We had to expect a few games like this. It would have been nice to ride that streak longer but with Malkin out having even a 5 game winning streak or whatever was just about a miracle.

We just can't let this go the other way now. Those wins gave us a buffer but it's not like we're completely in the clear yet. A few games like this...whatever. A losing streak the other way now? No thanks.

If you want to be honest, we hoped for one more win against the Devils, expected one less against the Isles, figured to die in Boston, and expected to win this.

In that vein, the record isn't surprising. The skating Dickens novel that took them there is.

Hextall has to know this and pretty clear he has to upgrade the physical play. Pens in a all skate with no one busting their a** to compete harder. Get TB back and begin the purge of the forwards who simply add nothing.

...and that matchup is only going to get tougher going forward. Young, cap finally under control, etc. The ghost of Shattenkirk is done, and Lundqvist's buyout has one more year. Wonder if they'll take a flyer on Hall just for the f*** of it?
