8M for an undersized winger would be brutal, no matter how good he is. playoffs are a different animal..

Hall put up 2 top 10 scoring finishes the next 2 seasons after he signed his 6x7. what are you even talking about??

If the oilers had waited they would be paying him 7.5+. A bridge deal would have been the dumbest thing to do. just like with Subban. That bridge deal cost the team a huge contract later on instead of getting a bargain long term.

What would the Oilers be paying Hall after the last 2 years?

The issue with Subban and the Canadiens management was always attitude. If you ask me Montreal won that trade wit stability and character. Subban will always make that stupid mistake when you need him the most.

Given that he had 9 points (4 goals) in 11 playoff games as a rookie, I am really not the least bit concerned about his ability to produce in the playoffs.

Yup nucks fan here, not the most fun guy to have against you in the playoffs.

His size works against him if he wants 8 million. He has limitations.

I'd give him 7 million for 2 years. Prove he can do more than score.

So not too many people have figured out how these negotiations work yet?? Goudreau camp will sell high ala 8mill per year....Calgary camp will sell low at around 4 mill per year...they will meet in the middle at around 6.2-6.5 mill....and voila contract signed

Very good player but 8M a year is a bit high for a kid that couldn't score away from the favorable match on home ice no?

.

Although I think there is a risk with Gaudreau because of his size, scoring is not a concern at all...home or anywhere.

People who is trying to bring this up is just grabbing for straw

Not in Calgary he won't. Gio's salary is as high as the Flames would be willing to go according to many sources.

Can you please post some of the sources, thanks.

He will get close to Tank's salary +/- 200,000. I hope is it's an 8 year contract.

He's Patrick Kane 2.0. I'd like to see a 5 year x 6.75 per deal. After that, he'll still be able to cash in another whopper.

I'd think he'd love that contract. Takes him right to UFA status. Can go out east ASAP

Elite players at 30+ get paid a crapton of money on long contracts. Also, let's all make note that this ask is specifically Gaudreau's agent; Gaudreau states that he has not been directly involved in negotiations at all.

Yes he is. That's bull to say he's not.

Gaudreau is playing with fire by playing in the World Cup. Imagine he blows out his knee and is out for the year, no way Calgary signs him to a contract this year just to pay him during injury. I also don't think it's possible to buy insurance on an already injured player. He'll essentially go the entire year without a contract and then his ask will have to drop because of the risk associated with his return.
Do you really think he hasn't already bought insurance?
