after 1 game as a Bruin, major takeaway from me was that this guy isn't just some brainless banger. He was making really smart plays and taking good angles all night. I think it's being really undersold how good he is defensively and how smart he is on the forecheck. Like he's not just looking to run guys on the forecheck, he actually takes smart routes with purpose (trying to get the puck back).

I’ve always like his forecheck but his defensive acumen was really good to see. I never pay as much attention to the opponent on those types of things

WHA at the old Boston Arena. He was playing for Chicago Cougars against the Whalers.

I may have said something about his wife.
What’s crazy is he had a significant effect on my life lol - he was traded for Johnny Mckenzie and the rest is history ;)

Maybe I’m reading too much into it. But he’s a guy in interviews that seems very intense and focused. Cliche, but both from his demeanor and on ice play, I can’t see this being a guy that really ever takes a game off.

Doesn't even take a shift off. He and Orlov both were two of the Caps that worked the hardest. I think that's a big reason Caps fans liked those guys so much.

Been watching him away from the puck pretty closely now that he's a B. He's actually a very smart player. Higher IQ than I realized. Still new to Monty's system but seems to be acclimating to it extremely well. Once he settles in and isn't so worried about getting out of position I think we start seeing his aggressiveness more. Very impressed with him so far.

I thought he'd already had some great games? His line plays 9-10 mins a game and he's only been here a few games. I think we can relax lol. He only needs to "get it" by playoffs.
It took Kelly and Peverley a month post trade to get acclimated to everything so I 100% agree that relaxing needs to happen here.

We all know how those two performed in the playoffs that year :)
