Having some bad luck with the new games I'm playing. I'm trying some new types of games an they just aren't very good. I didn't finish these so I don't feel like I should post them in the "last games you beat" thread.

Maneater - I thought it looked like it could be pretty fun but it felt really grindy and repetitive. You play as a shark and have to kill everything really. There are quests but after an hour and a half, every single quest is one of the following:

  • Kill 10 of this one type of fish in this location
  • Kill 10 humans in this location
  • Kill this one particular fish in this location
That's all you run into. You just swim around slowly and bite things. The combat for things that fight back is just bad. The combat for things that don't fight back is boring... I'm genuinely shocked this game has such high ratings because it's just an incredibly average game that isn't very fun.

Cave Story's Secret Santa - This game's really short but it's just a basic NES style stealth game. It's not necessarily bad but meh. Nothing to really keep you going.

Fight Knight - I saw some really god reviews from this and hoped it was going to be a hidden gem. The last grid based dungeon crawler I played was Legend of Grimrock 1 & 2 and I loved those. I was a bit nervous about the combat but figured I'd give it a go. I was right to be hesitant of the combat. It's really boring.

I guess it's not all bad, I feel a bit better knocking off a few games from my backlog quickly even if it's just me putting them away!

GTA3 has aged a LOT better than San Andreas.

Things that made it worse at the time make the game significantly better now. Way smaller open world, no RPG mechanics, less dialogue. Makes it a much more tight experience.

Also, there's waaaay more cars and pedestrians in 3. Especially cars. I remember in San Andreas, I don't know if it was a glitch or what but every car would literally vanish and you'd have to search for like two minutes to find one or just keep turning your camera 180 degrees and hope a car had spawned when you turned back around. 3 is way more populated.

Maneater is why I love game pass, had I spent like 20 bucks I would've been pissed, cool concept but the execution is lacking
It was the first Humble Choice I bought in a long time. Maneater was one of the games I wanted to play but it wasn't the one I was most excited to play out of the list. I'm looking a lot more forward to Mordhau and Endzone: A World Apart. Kind of excited to give The Survivalists a go too. I just figured Maneater was supposed to be pretty short so I'd knock it off first. I'm definitely done with it quickly, that's for sure.

I almost 100% Maneater. It’s a repetitive game but just dumb fun.

I thought it would be dumb fun but there just wasn't much there even considering it's just a game where you go f*** things up. To each their own I suppose.

Halo: Infinite, PUBG, Anno 1800, Forza Horizon 5 and just purchased Planet Zoo on sale (first, I wanted to get Jurassic World Evolution 2) so I guess I'll spend some time on that. Also got the season pass for AC: Valhalle but don't feel like playing a story game right now as I just finished AC: Odyssey - The Fate of Atlantis and Halo: Infinite in the last 2 months.

Started playing Assassin's Creed Valhalla. It's not too bad but definitely underwhelming when compared to Odyssey.

I've started playing Dangan Ronpa after waiting for years for it to come to a Nintendo console. Definitely worth the wait, even if I already knew all the first game's spoilers.

I play Clash of Cland and CS:GO. I'm big fan of games and I use app vpn free download to protect my privacy while playing. It helps to bypass all restrictions and has unlimited data. So convy. I think it's a must have tool for every gamer.

Looking for recommendations to play. I like looters like Borderlands series, Destiny, even the Division. Also strategy games like Xcom, and Slay the Spire. I like skill trees, becoming powerful over time, finding or crafting awesome gear etc. Anyone have anything that fits the bill?

You might like John Wick Hex. There's zero loot and relatively limited powerups (you are John wick after all) but it's a faster paced XCOM type game.

Condemned Criminal Origins

I had it way back when for the XB360 and never finished it, and I was feeling nostalgic and picked up copies of it and the sequel a few months ago, probably about a third of the way thru it so far, it plays kind of slow, but I am enjoying the creepy atmosphere

Now that I've finished Demons Souls, I'm back at Bloodborne. Man, I'm starting to get what's great about it. Just beat Bloodstarved Beast on my first try, which I was surprised about since there was a lot of hype about that boss online. I also tried the tutorial for Dark Souls Remastered, beat the first boss/demon after missing the lunge lmao. Excellent game too. My goal, which might be unrealistic, is to beat all the soulsborne, aside from DS2, before Elden Ring. I've done DS3 (DLCs remaining though), Sekiro, Demons Souls and going for Bloodborne for the Christmas holidays before tackling on DS:R.

EDIT: Really getting hooked with Bloodborne right now. I'm having an easier go at it than Dark Souls 3 and Sekiro. 2 tries for Cleric Beast, I think 3-4 for Gascogne, and then beat bloodstarved beast, Amelia and the Witches all first try. I'm starting to get the combat/iframes/riposte systems all down. Really like how you can regain health, makes it so I can play agressive, but strategically. It's actually a typical FromSoft system: its so tempting to attack and regain your health, but sometimes that can be a trap and you can lose even more. Really enjoying this game right now.

Edit 2: the art style is just amazing. I can't believe this is a 2014 PS4 game.
