Just finished with Lost Ark closed Beta. It'll be something I play for awhile when it goes live. Think Diablo meets World of Warcraft into one.
Oh man. Lots.
Doing a hard mode playthrough of Metroid Samus Returns and Metroid Dread. I’m on a real Metroid kick.
Picked up Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity again. I’m a big fan of stupid hack and slash action.
Started Star Fox 64 3DS and DKC Tropical Freeze.
And there’s more to come. I’m probably gonna get the GTA Trilogy because I never played the originals before.
I finally got a PS5 a month or so ago. It's my first Playstation console since PS2. So I'm playing through a bunch of the great PS4 games I missed out on, and I can't help but feel they all sort of feel the same. And by that, I mean third person, over the shoulder point of view, that places most of its emphasis on creating a movie-like experience with great graphics and an emphasis on story. To elaborate, I've been playing a bit of Spiderman, God of War, the Last of Us, Zero Horizon Dawn, and Resident Evil 2 Remake. I'm really enjoying God of War the most, but damn they all kind of feel like the same developer made them.
PlayStation has some of the best AAA games on the market full stop, but you do have to like the action-adventure/RPG style of game to appreciate them....in general of course.
I was in a similar position. I had a PS3, but mostly just played CoD and sports games. Then I got a PS5 in April and started working my way through some of the PS+ collection. God of War and The Last of Us were the first 2 I played and I thoroughly enjoyed both, especially God of War. Maybe the same fatigue you have is what set in with me when I played Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted 4, TLOU2, and Batman Arkham Knight. I still liked them, but not nearly as much.I finally got a PS5 a month or so ago. It's my first Playstation console since PS2. It's still 3rd person and RPG, but Bloodborne is available in the PS+ collection and is much more focused on combat. The cut scenes are pretty limited and mostly to introduce bosses. The story is very vague. I watched a couple YouTube videos explaining it after I played it and thought "THAT'S the game I was playing?!?" Fair warning, it can be extremely challenging. There's no difficulty setting. It's just permanently set at f***ing hard. At least for me. There's a couple of bosses, even one that's very early in game, where it felt like I was banging my head against a wall and would never be able to beat. There's also not much direction telling you where to go. There's no map. You've got to experiment a little to find out when to use certain items. There's absolutely no hand holding. By the end, though, I was addicted. I ended up playing it a second time following a guide so I didn't miss anything (which I missed a bunch of stuff in the first play through). I'm now playing the developer's next game, Sekiro, which is both in the same vein and drastically different when it comes to art direction, movement, combat, and less RPG-y. It's probably taking over as my favorite game. I'd recommend both, but again, they're hard.
Hollow Knight is also on my short list. It's a 2D crowd funded indie game. I'm really drawn to the art direction, but I've read that it is also quite challenging. Not sure what it is about me being drawn to difficult games . It's supposed to be really good, though, and would change up your 3rd person RPG streak.
Oh I see. You're much more of gamer than me, just not on PlayStation specificallyThanks for the reply. I am actually saving Bloodborne (and the Demons Souls remake) for when I've completed more of my backlog. I'm a huge Souls fan and am excited to finally play those two games along with Sekiro. Also want to get the Shadow of the Colossus remake soon too (50% off now).
I love that game. I have it on my Switch and made it like 50-60% through and got stuck. I really don't know where to go next aside from the Gladiator Coliseum, I need to do some research as I got tired aimlessly running around.
Yeah, it is more that you are just crushing a massive backlog built up over 5 or so years. Whereas Sony might release 2 or 3 of these insanely polished AAA 3rd person cinematic games a year at most. Although, I do believe Sony has a sizable investment in an upcoming 1st person shooter made by some ex-Treyarch devs. Although, I would say games like God of War/Ghost of Tsushima are notably different than the Naughty Dog games in playstyle, and Horizon is a bit out in leftfield in how to classify. Big thing is though, if you've been a big PC or X-Box guy during this time period, you've likely crushed most of the big FPS or WRPGs made by 3rd parties or previously 3rd party (Bethesda, iD, Obsidian, etc).Yeah definitely, I get that. I guess I'll just need to spread out the first party games with third party titles that have more variety/genres.

Nobody asked for this but my thoughts on the PS5 exclusivesPlayStation has some of the best AAA games on the market full stop, but you do have to like the action-adventure/RPG style of game to appreciate them....in general of course.
I actually 'finished' Sekiro last night, but it was the ending that apparently cut out like a 1/4th of the gameIf you've finished Bloodborne and are finishing Sekiro, which is even harder imo, Hollow Knight will be a breeze. It wasn't that hard tbh. That said, it's an amazing game, one of the best of the decade.
Haven't restarted Bloodborne yet. Im thinking of keeping it for the holidays. For some reason, I booted up Demon Souls (PS3, not the remake on the PS5) for the first time. Only played a few minutes, but I didn't expect the gameplay to be this good. I might give it a try, if not before Bloodborne, then right after.
