Not really. It wasn't a "great" game by any means but they cut back on the turnovers a lot and protected the front of the net pretty well. And even though the PP was 0/2 they first one was good with a few chances and maybe more importantly, more puck touches for Sid.

I don't say it often but kudos to Sully for keeping Malkin on the ice for an empty net goal chance, he was flying all night and deserved a reward even though his line was slaughtered in terms of Corsi because it kept passing instead of shooting and Rakell still looks lost.

It's weird how the Pens are nowhere as mentally fragile against Western Conference teams. And winning thanks to depth and goaltending. I wish it would happen sometimes against division rivals but a win is a win, especially against the champs on a b2b.

Beautiful game. Complete 60 min effort and Ned shut down the Cup Champs.

My only gripe is that we won't be playing the Knights in the PO's if we get there.

We'll probably be playing the Rags, Devs, or Canes, and they own us right now.

They should just go with Ned until he stinks.

Also you just knew despite all logic to the contrary that they would win this game of all games. Can't ever beat NYI, NJ or Carolina under any circumstance but Colorado and Las Vegas are no problem.
Don't forget that this might hurt Jarry's feelings. Everyone knows that your number 1 goalie should be both mentally coddled and overworked...and preferably wear bright yellow pads if that's their thing, so that opposing shooters can keep track at a glance or with their peripheral vision.

This is an emotionally driven criticism of Jarry and I just won't stand for it. Please stop pointing out the obvious which is our 27 million dollar 1G sucks ass.

Stand. For. It :).

… btw… how about we deal Jarry to Buffalo for Comrie and something and make Ned #1?

Not because I think Ned is a certainty, but we know Jarry isn’t either, and I’d rather improve elsewhere to give us a punchers chance.

Buffalo needs a #1 and they have the cap—room.

I have no great attachment to Jarry. If the right deal is out there then I would pull the trigger.

I would love to understand why the deeper NZ presence that consistently produces not just wins, but shutout wins, is seemingly a fly by night approach that only makes appearances at random times.
Because the team’s top players don’t want to play that way consistently and the coach is a coward who preserved his job because he kowtows to those players…

According to Capfriendly it's for all 5 years, but it's a 12-team no trade list. If true, that means 18 possible suitors out there.

Dubas has pulled off more difficult trades.
And there are always gutter teams looking to fill out cap space and have a (supposedly) decent nhl starter.
Someone will / would take him for sure.

Yea the problem is, if Jarry and his agent are smart, they'll make sure to put those very teams on the 12-team list every July.
Bollocks!
That is true!
I wonder how that team list works? Is it done upon signing or upon getting moved? Has to be on signing, no? Otherwise he'd know he was being shipped if they have to call to get his 12 teams....
:dunno:

It´s not like Vegas is a worse team than NJ or CAR, because they are not. But somehow, even in the B2B situation, I felt like Pens have a better chance against Vegas. Kinda compensates those two losses a bit. But I would feel much better knowing that they can do this against one of those previous teams.
Styles make the match. The Pens really struggle against teams that skate and forecheck and pressure all over the ice, and CAR and NJ are among the best at it. Vegas is more akin to a WAS or NYR style, teams we hold up against far better.

Wednesday feels like a really big game, to be honest.
