They are obviously not. Small sample size. Look at their goal differential and ours. Pens are a much better team. Caps are getting some timely goaltending and puck luck but they are not very good. Pens are still better than our 8-6 record suggests.
Let’s see in a couple weeks…

I thought Graves was fine the last couple games but yea he randomly soiled himself this one. I hope they don't do the thing they did to Marino and try to get him to "unlock" his potential offensively. Just make him play the simplest game of all time pls.

And yea Karlsson is a generational talent. If they can improve the bottom six a little bit more w/ some finishing they are going to score a lot of goals.

Pretty much matches the eye test too..

I hoped and prayed this would be the case in the off-season, just thinking that the big, rangy stay at home Swede would be the be the ideal partner for the nimble, free wheeling offensive Swede. It’s been great so far to watch and it’s validating that the numbers back it all up.

I love EK, we’re just blessed he fell into Dubas’s lap.

Petts +4 today. I assumed he'd regress this year after being our best last year. Doesn't seem like he's interested in doing that.
I think the geometry of Sid's 2nd goal is my favorite part. He has such an amazing deflection package but calculating the angle and then executing? It's beautiful. The pass from Karlsson too, omg.
Yeah, it's beautiful work. It's not just the deflection itself, but the timing to separate and fade away from your check when their attention's diverted. If you go too early you probably get shadowed and shut down.

Yep they NEED finishing and guys like Rakell and DOC to start scoring. IF we start getting those kind of contributions and Sid, Geno, Jake and EK65 play at a high level we might have something. Lots of uncertainty to be sure, but there is at least a possibility here. It could be one last gasp by the old folks, time will tell.

DOC has no idea how to score….he just bombs right at the goalie….he needs to learn how to change the angle of his shot, make a move on the goalie.. I just don’t think he has the talent and offensive IQ to score more than a few goals…Rakell should be better

RR away from the puck has been fine, but clearly we need him to produce, I think he'll come around in the next three or four games. He's a good player and he's getting chances. Wouldn't surprise me if he puts up two or three if he gets one that night

I think Rakell should be tried with Crosby before the 3rd line.

I wouldn't move him down to the bottom six for sure, who could move up and do well there? Big drop off after the top six. That should be KD's biggest concern regarding a trade. Adding another scoring threat who's solid at both ends.

What kind of player would you be looking to add? naming names. A guy I have wanted for a while that can produce and skate fast would be perhaps Janmark? no clue if Oil would trade him but he's good for around 10 goals and 25 points. I dunno who would be available. Trenin?

We can't get him but Jarnkrok personifies pretty much what I'm looking for in a player.

So the other day I commented about Crosby at a 48 goal pace

He's at a 58 goal pace now.

I would be happy with 40 goals. Keep it up captain!

2nd pair of Petterson + Karlsson is beautiful.

Also let's give props to Letang.
Huge on the PK and eating minutes.

The PK was huge and Jarry honestly could have let goals in on the 2nd period during the PK SPREE.

Just great.

Letang defensively has been tremendous. Absolutely he deserves big props! Especially his PK work.

Okay, People keep saying Jarry had a rough night... man, I don't know 3 on 1 ... moving left to right.

Goal 1.

Goal 2. Blown assignment and perfect screen because we don't clear crease.

Goal 3. Another crazy blown assignment.

Man, watching Crosby and our old dudes who are "tired" is sure fun.

We need to clean up the missed assignments. As everyone said, we'll see if they can commit to defense or continue to leave people wide open.

On that EK goal, of course it was Geno and Karlsson magic, but Reilly Smith also starred on that shift. Great position to get the quick shot (hits crossbar), then with puck pursuit steals it right back and gets it to G. Then the cycle ends in an EK bomb.
I love Smith's shooting instinct. Dude is so smart with the puck.
