This is absolutely a game the Penguins would have lost last season. If nothing else, it's nice to see that trend has changed.
100%. Give up an unlucky tying marker, immediately take a penalty and, well, that narrative was the start of a number of late collapses last year.

Tonight….we kill it and then IMMEDIATELY score afterward. Whose team is this? I barely recognize that kind of resilience.

Has this team lost yet without Carts?
No, and considering how superstitious Sid is, Carter might want to make himself comfortable in the press box.

100%. Shows the difference having one more offensive weapon makes.
I think they were better defensively later in the third, too. They were OK after Columbus tied it, and then they were solid after Sid gave them the lead. Not perfect, but better than the dumpster fires that were repeatedly lit late in games last year.

The Caps are better than the Pens…who would’ve thought that when the season started…3-0 win against the Knights and second place in the division
They are obviously not. Small sample size. Look at their goal differential and ours. Pens are a much better team. Caps are getting some timely goaltending and puck luck but they are not very good. Pens are still better than our 8-6 record suggests.

I think Carter should get comfortable in the press box because Hinostroza is 1000% a Mike Sullivan kind of player and he'll keep playing as long as he's even moderately effective.

I'm way more concerned about the bottom pair than the bottom-6 at this point. I like 5 of the 6 guys they have in the bottom-6 right now, and the 6th guy is Nieto who's fine.

Shea had his worst game as a Penguin - despite a good sequence in the offensive zone at one point. He had just two shifts in the third period.

We might see POJ back in.
well if he was benched while Graves was clocking 20 minutes, I don't know, I was watching Graves closely, every move was wrong, he was letting skaters get in front of Jarry, he was slow to get back, losing puck when pressured, and no I am no hater, I just don't get it

all while Ruh is really #7-8 guy

One last comment, I really think people here need to be giving Sullivan props for the systematic changes he made early in the year that have made such a major difference during this winning streak. Their winning streak started when Sullivan made some tweaks to their neutral zone forecheck, which has seemingly unlocked this team to be able to accomplish what it should be able to do.

It's not a major change, but they went from running an aggressive 1-2-2 forecheck to more of a trap 1-2-2 forecheck. They didn't have the legs to run that aggressive system, so that would allow the other team to generate a ton of speed through the neutral zone. But with the trap, the other team is slowed down dramatically and the Penguins can capitalize on the neutral zone turnovers.

People fairly criticize Sullivan for not making changes as aggressively as he should, I think this is a terrific change and really shows what he can do if he decides to make tactical changes.
But why give him props? why not change sooner?

have not been impressed with him at all
I see why Devils fans were not concerned

Sid, Geno and EK are carrying this team so hard. Without one of those guys, this ship is firmly at the bottom of the ocean.

EK's so damn fun to watch, and Sid's just a f***ing freak with tips and redirects. Geno may be absolute dogshit defensively but he still does cool shit offensively and that's fine by me.

Carter should be at home rubbing his glands with a necrotic bat to develop that eczema we need for a Hossa'ish send-off. Doesn't need to be something permanent, mind. Its not as if I hate him. But we need that cap-hit gone.
