The only good news is that it's next to impossible for the PP to stay this bad for much longer. They will break through at some point, but it's hard to see Malholtra back again next year.
He should be fired right now......like literally tonight

The risk of coming to Toronto to coach. If the PP was great he’d get a lot of press praising him, but it sucks so he’s taking a ton of heat instead and is ruining his reputation.

Never seen the team get more bad bounces on a PP over a stretch of a month.

Another post on a powerplay.

Thank god there’s a month left to sort this out. This would sink us in the playoffs and Keefe and Malholtra clearly have no idea what to do and are terrified to take Rielly off.

Removing Rielly fixes absolutely nothing. He's our best offensive defenseman by a mile. This personnel have proven capable before, they just need to do it

We started off (recently) as a good PP that couldn't convert. This is a bad PP that doesn't know where to start.

Entries are bad, recovery is bad, shot choices are bad, options are bad, pass choices are off. Literally nothing is going well and it's all on them.

Power play isn’t great right now but two situations that were very close to goals. Plus Matthews had a decent walk in where he missed the net.

Overthinking or something, but this is not the end of the world, they’ll get a couple of bounces eventually and get the monkey off their back.

Like if I’m. The other team I just keep taking penalties. Toronto is wayyy more dangerous 5 on 5. Like it Kills us

The powerplay matters less in the playoffs but it’s not completely worthless. If the Leafs can’t convert on the few powerplays they do get in the postseason they’re f***ed.

If games are tight checking the PP might be crucial to us being able to score in the playoffs and if we keep on this stretch it could spell disaster. I can’t believe it’s been allowed to go on for this long.

It's inexplicable... The best analogy I can come up with is this.

We're like an NBA team that is deadly in transition (5 on 5), but can't run sets out of the half court (the powerplay) to save our lives.

It all starts with not having a PG (D-man that controls the PP and makes great first passes l) that can start the play and execute the set. It's embarrassing and role should be in Sandin's hand next year. Reilly can't handle it.

If it's all bad, it's on the coach

Yeah basically. Curious to get a peek at what that clipboard looks like.
