Meh, guy that never cracked 30 points his entire career until last season when he had an absolute heater of a first 41 games before hitting a major regression. Rodrigues is what he is. If everyone is healthy he's probably 3RW but I can't say I'm all that thrilled with him in that role.
I agree with that. He’s a third liner and guy like Compher… versatile, but gets played too much because of it. Still useful, just not 2nd line useful.

I would have rather had Nuke out there.
I’d have a longer list than that, just stating the reason.

Ah well. That was expected.

Only two games in so plenty of time for the struggling players to get going. There’s very little chemistry right now combined with the bad play.

Rolled 3 lines on a second game of a b2b after you got in at 4 am because you’re chasing and your 4th line has two non-NHL players. Cool cool.

Calgary looks pretty darn good this year but glad the avs fought back... Newhook late in game got replaced by compher...
Meh. They came out strong against a team on a back to back on their home opener. I'd be pretty concerned about how they almost let us back into this if I was their fans.

I have very little doubt the Avs win this game if not for getting f***ed over by the schedule makers. Calgary looks good (as well they should with that roster), but they didn't look like the threat the media has made them out to be. Should be a fun season series.

Is this when we talk about Girard being redundant, paying him $5 mil to play 15 minutes on the 3rd pair, etc.? Or do we need to wait for a few more losses :sarcasm:
Frankly while he was limited in his time, he was the Avs’ best defensemen tonight. I’d argue he should have played a lot, lot more minutes.

What an original conversation

Sedlak played 6:44, Meyers played 7:24 and MacDermid played 4:14.

Meanwhile on the back end Makar played 26:39 while only Toews was the other defensemen above 18:00 minutes.

Remember, Jared, it's a marathon not a sprint. They need to play the 4th line 8-10 minutes per night and take advantage of their defensemen to get them all above 18 minutes on most nights.

Honestly didn't think Calgary looked that great. They took advantage of very favorable situation and jumped on a clearly visible tired team.

Considering we have no 2nd line, our captain is out, played our backup, our all world dman played his worst game in maybe his entire career, we got like maybe 4 hours of sleep, refs favored Calgary, a 5-3 loss wasn't half bad.

Calgary should have looked much better IMO.

Time to rest up and play a better road game against Minny on Monday.

Flames clearly took their foot off the gas.

Doubt the Newhook #2C experience will last long, he is not ready for it.
Not f***ing chance if he continues to play like he has the 1st 2 games. He isn't f***ing close right now.

I suspect Girard's time with this team will come to end before Dec 1. He will be used to get a real 2C.

We can't really afford to mess around with this experiment without results for long. Sakic knows competent 2C play is a must of we want any chance.

Disagree. We picked it up, big difference.

When we got pissed and actually started skating things tilted our way. And we were extremely close to making it a 1 goal game with about 6 mins left.

I have no doubts in my mind the game goes very different if the schedule makers don't f*** us and we don't get into town at 4am.

They struggled when we actually gave some effort.

Wish Sakic had gone after Danault when he was a UFA, mostly because a healthy line of Landeskog-Danault-Nichushkin would be the perfect 2nd line for this team
Eh, who knows what happens if we got Danault. He'd be perfect now, but there isn't a single move that I wish Sakic did considering what he did brought us a cup. Wouldn't be surprised if Kadri was shipped out if we signed Danault that offseason.
