Post-Game Talk: GAME 9 - THROW THE CAT OFF THE CLIFF!!!! - BRUINS 3 Sunrise 2 F/OT

Charlie getting 3-4 won't be bad for the team over the long run. Keeps the other kids from being stupid. Gives some other players some minutes. And this fresh roster needs some adversity to rally around.

Lemons, lemonade.

See this is why Marchy is the captain. He's the responsible one

That was 100% intentional attempt to injure. He had head contact in front of his own net early in the game, so you never know with DOPS. Anyone advocating less than 3 is a blatant homer and will put their own team in jeapordy. How would you like Lindholm
getting hit like that by Montour or Ekblad?

I saw the Anderson hit and that deserved 6-7 games easy and Laine had the puck.

Don't whine when something like this happens to McAvoy next time the play Florida.
OK.

But Andersson didn't get 6-7 games. He got 4. And Cliffy got 2.

You're talking like I don't think McAvoy should be suspended or something which is weird. I don't think he deserves, or will get, the same amount as Andersson for very obvious reasons. Laine may have had the puck but it was at the buzzer.

I think probably 3 but possibly 2 games.

Could be the kid (Jake) has some significant mental health issues, there are some seemingly pretty distinct changes in his level of play that seem to reflect in his face, his energy.

He's not playing the way he's capable of playing that is for sure. If he is experiencing more mental health issues he needs to get them taken care of as soon as possible, for his sake & the team's.

Here we go again. First it was Jake had a drinking problem, now he's having mental health issues. Just because some posters think he should be playing better. This is really irresponsible to just fling things around like this (and I know you are responding to someone who dropped the mental issues first).

If the Bruins only play .500 the rest of the way they would have 90 points - last year 92 points got you in.
This is why I was so impressed with the start of the season. Lots of people talking about how easy the schedule was (and it was), but you still have to bank those points. And the B's did. Can't ask for more than that. Points are points are points.

Now adding two straight games with Division points??? Fantastic.

He's had mental health issues in the past and it isn't unusual for them to come back or even be ongoing. I'm not saying he does have them, I'm saying that if he does he needs to take care of it for his own sake as well as the team's.

As far as we know he is not injured. We're just trying to figure out what is going on with him because he simply isn't playing as well as he is capable of playing, I don't think there is any disputing that.

Panthers have already cited his hit earlier in the game to get a suspension more than a generic 2-3 games for a hit to the head.

Again, the hit on OEL wasn't remotely a hockey play.

There's nothing whatsoever to indicate there are any mental issues at all, and even insinuating that is pretty awful IMO.

They can cite all they want. And I again don't know why you're trying to convince me he should be suspended when I've said he should be suspended. It's the number of games we're discussing, and thinking it's more like Andersson than Cliffy is just out there.

Would anyone consider an Evander Kane for Jake Debrusk swap right now? Heinen takes over Jake's PK responsibilities and Kane is as good/better of goal scorer than Jake. Kane also adds that element of nasty to play against. that we lack in the top 6. They'd either have to retain on Kane or we'd have to add to make the cap work.

I get the past crap about Kane but it's not like Jake doesn't come with some baggage. Requested a trade, late for team meeting, looks uninterested in 95% of the games this season. Kane just gives me Neely/Horton/Iginla vibes where the guy was born to be a Bruin. Realistically....Kane is not going to disrespect that locker room with #17 in there.

Please don't compare Debrusk's "baggage" to Kane's.

Kane is simply bad news.

One thing that isn’t discussed much about DeBrusk is how he struggled with mental health during the 2020-21 season, greatly impacting his performance on the ice, saying, “The game isn’t fun when you’re struggling.” Fast forward to the 2022-23 season, he fought through his struggles and had arguably the best season of his career. Along with the numbers, it was very easy to tell DeBrusk had improved his all-around game, as he was often one of the most noticeable players on the ice on a regular basis.
DeBrusk Taking Another Leap Would be a Win-Win for Both Him and the Bruins Organization

To take that and now project it to 9 games of the season several years later though? Just because he hasn't been scoring?

I have the same bad feeling. I'm hoping 4 or less. They could easily ding him for 5+.

At the same time they could surprise me and go less. One never knows.

However, any Bruins fan dismissing possibility of anything harsh is setting himself/herself up for disappointment. Fingers firmly crossed.

There is no moral high ground when it comes to hockey. Panthers have a history of dirty play against this batch of Bruins, including in this game. Bruins/McAvoy does now as well. We have every right to complain if something happens to McAvoy, like the Panthers fans have every right to complain when something happens to Bennett, Tkachuk. Objectivity and fandom seldom mix and that's ok - it's just sports.

Don't shoot the Messager. You stated that he never had metal health issues. As for JDB I think he is not scoring because a couple of things: Contract year, different centerman, moving back to his natural LW side to name a few. I think that's why Monty moved him back to RW and put him back with Marshy last night.

Ok so tonight was the first time I noticed something different in Jack. Definitely slower and more deliberate in his speaking. I still love the guy.

But I laughed out loud at “threw the cat off the cliff”. OMG. Guy’s a treasure.
At first we were like" what the hell does that mean? Throw the cat off the cliff?" Then we (finally) made the connection with the Panthers, and understood the reference. That took as much mental gymnastics as telling Reinhart to get a haircut. Looking back, it feels like Jack deliberately used Reinhart's full name Samson all night just to set up that line at some point.

Cousins alone pulled 3-4 cheapies last night. Always the way with him and he’s typically less egregious than some of his teammates.

An eye for an eye leaves both blind in an eye. This shit isn't what should be considered sports. You maybe ok with deliberate headshots like that but when it happens to your guy you won't be. I would literally be fine with 10 games to anyone to start getting that garbage out of the game.

Not even close to what #73 did.

McAvoy came to play last night. Had the mindset to play hard and physical, he really wanted to win, it was great. But he got a little carried away, with the pinch in the 1st, and the high hits. Really wonder how many games he'll get, seems to be pretty random what players receive.

Will say penalties are random as hell too. That game last night had potential penalties all over the place, and for some reason only 3 minors, with Geekies being quite questionable. They let the team's play through some shit. Other games seems like teams can barely touch an opponent.

Awesome win though, they continue to show they are a hard team to beat.

I didn't say he never had mental issues. I said taking his play through a small part of the season and projecting that he's struggling due to mental health issues is beyond the pale.

I guess I need to send you a letter in the mail. I never claimed you said he shouldn't be suspended so quit making strawman arguments.
