We wouldn't blame our players but I doubt we'd expect our players to take two boarding major penalties.

We wouldn't expect it, and I'm not advocating dirty play, but I doubt we'd be here waging our fingers at the Bruins either.

Especially considering neither ended up being called as boarding majors (although I think both warranted stiffer penalties).

Thank God we didn't call up Randell and/or Blidh for this game --I really hate it when our team can ice a 4th line that respond to the physical play of the other team's 4th line!

In fairness, surely we had no idea that Tom Wilson and crew would be running our guys all game.... if only there was some way that we could have seen that coming!

Watching he and Beagle laughing after the scrum where Chiller leg checked Wilson made me absolutely sick. Teams used to be petrified to play here now it's a game they know they can relax. Washington gets zero pushback from us, ever and what do they do? Run all over us. Disgusting

I agree. I'm pretty against Randell because I think his skating holds him back too much, but if there was ever a game he should play it's this one.

It's going to be pretty frustrating if we meet the Caps . I hate them already and would love to beat those ******** but we won't have the horses to do it . ;)

Best post ^^ of the ^^day!! Right on the money, when I saw that I was boiling! There was barely a whimper out of the cubs I mean Bruins. While I would like to see us continue on building a faster team I do not want a gentler one. Even if the B's were "gentler" they would STILL be getting the brunt of the penalties. These on ice officials definitely have their pre-conceived prejudices against the Bruins logo.

The last team that was scared of playing the Bruins at TD Garden was Vancouver in 2011.

Home ice means little in today's NHL. This year only 4 teams had single digit regulation losses at home ( Washington, Pittsburgh, Anaheim and Nashville ).

Sadly the days of a visiting team looking at the schedule and seeing they are playing in Boston doesn't scare anyone.

Off topic but does anyone know the name of the song in the Bruins intro video they play on the Jumbotron right before they come out in the first period?

Thanks

I agree like to see the faster team but geez at least find some with some kick back

My hope is DS can make a few moves to bring in a little grit up front, to many soft players that in my option are going to get swallowed up in the playoffs regardless of who we play with the physical side of the game.

Truly haven't seen a Bruins team that wants no part of finishing checks on the forecheck or wanting to win a board battle like this one.

For all those folks that say its great we made the playoffs because of all the "young" guys will get the experience I ask, Who are the young guys that will even be on the team next season or the next that we are talking about?

Pasta, Carlo (if he's not moved in the off season)? Playing Washington and getting your head kicked in and most likely embarrassed with this group of players does nothing but give Bruins ownership a few home gates and saves DS and Neely's jobs. Nothing more Nothing less. Maybe gets Cassidy the job (I doubt it)

This core is an old group that its best years are behind them. Want to get that playoff experience that we hear so much about ?

Put in JFK sign Bjork sign Charlie and bring up O'gara AND PLAY THEM. Then making the playoffs was worth it and we can get our best prospects that experience we hear so much about.

I would

1. Call up Grzelcyk to replace Krug

Obvious

I've watched him in Providence and he's very savvy

2. If they don't play Morrow I call up Cross

Love the way he plays - had he not blown out his knee he would be on game 500 in the NHL
I don't get why he never gets called up

3. No McAvoy

Sign Bjork and put him right in- wingers have less responsibility than centers and the kid has Jets and love his diagonal style - very unusual but love it

Side note- asked family & friends who were at game (stuck with those that played at a good level so they would understand better) what they thought of JFK

Overall 3 for 3 his skating is a plus attribute and as one said 'mediocre typical HF folklore'

All agreed he needs time though

Best comment was 'driving on the highway with your teenager for the first time' they get the feel of the speed and 'big road' tractor trailers and a holes switching lanes without directionals and being tailgated

JFK was the teenager driving 60 in the middle lane with dad pointing things out both on kids driving but what other cars were doing - I know I did this

All you that drive think back to that first time

Rask played well which is a positive that can be taken from that game. Get Marchand back in the lineup will help too. I really think that Cheralik should be back up in Boston for the playoffs, he played well and definitely better than Beleskey and Vatrano at this point.

I'd like to see DeBrusk up in Boston but that's not going to happen until next season.

Thanks for the vote of confidence..So damn sick and tired of reading," Bruins are gonna get beat up and gone in 4", "Bruins don't have a prayer","Bruins will get blown out in the 4 games they play".. Likely the same one's who said Bruins have no chance of making playoffs.

We mightn't even be playing the Scraps!! But I do like your post, a true breath of fresh air. Last season, Randell scored 6 goals in 27 games and that was playing 6-8 minutes a game or around that. He's a big body, plays physical and can handle himself and he got some offensive punch. I wonder why he never got a look this season cause IF we play Caps, we need players like him albeit he's a poor skater but he can defend our players.

I'm really disappointed in Vatrano. Did he get the nickname "Tank" because that's what he did after a few games, tank?? Really thought he was gonna have a better season. Also agree Peter Cehlarik should get another look. Even if he didn't put up any offence, he made that 2nd line somehow better. Better option that Vatrano.

Got no explanation for Beleskey unless his injury still bothers him. I loved his play last season, leading Bruins in hits. Hoped for a little more offence but compared to this yr, not complaining about last season. I don't blame Sweeney, he couldn't see this coming!! Anyway, thanks for the post. It made me forget how terrible the Bruins are apparently!! Cheers and have a super Sunday!!

Seriously, I don't get this at all. How did Ovi not get tossed from the game, or at least a five minute boarding penalty?

Talk about no consistency.

Dotchkin at least was able to play later in the game after Marchand speared him, but Carlo was done for the afternoon after that hit. Yet Ovi gets to keep on playing while Marchand sits.

Like I said in the Marchand thread yesterday, had he got him in the legs instead of the sensitive area, it would have been a 2 minute for slashing. Or in the abdomen, it would have been a 2 minute penalty.

I don't like what Marchand did, but come on.......this is getting ridiculous.

What do you mean not consistent?? They cant get more consistant. They consistently make Bruins pay for every little thing they do and they consistently let other teams do what they damn well want with Boston!! How can you get more consistent that that. I've watched this game for almost 50 years and I really don't know how much more I can take. I'm actually too big of a fan because I lose sleep over all this bias crap. I don't know why it happens so much and for all the years I watched this game and the knowledge I have, I should have something figured out. I think it has something to do with the league versus Jacobs!!! Laugh all you want but there has to be some legitimate reason why Bruins ALWAYS get the crap end of the stick..This might very well be my last post on here. I'm just tired, tired of bias giaffes, tired of fans of certain teams that hate Chara for the wrong reasons. He deserves almost as much respect as Bergy. This season took a lot out of me. Just tired. And if anyone tells me to take a nap, it will definitely be my last post cause I'll be banned forever from this site!!! Lol, kidding, utmost respect for all of you. You're darn good people and the best fans in the world. Something no one can ever take from you!!

Outside of the obvious issues with the loss and the liberties taken, it is a shame that what has been a relatively good season injury wise gets washed away with the lose of two huge blue line contributors in successive games so late in the year. Their absence in any playoff series would be huge obstacles to overcome.

As to who the will face in round one, it really doesn't matter. There are no guarantees to facing a team in a so called preferred match up. Upsets take place all the time. Favorites falter and lesser seeds surprise. Why not be the Bruins who surprise this year ? Happy to see them get in and hope they can build some momentum and see where it takes them.

This is what bothers me WAY more than whatever opponent we get. Just have to wait and see I guess.

This has been going on for a while now and one of the main reasons I have said for years losing Lucic was a bad move. The guy brought things many people here did not see and don't show up on the stat sheet. He makes people he plays with better as they know they have got protection.

I WANT Washington

If we don't win (expected) then I want the Bruins to be the reason they are too banged up to get out of the 2nd round

To my fellow Newfie fan, please know that I share your pain. :biglaugh: Everything you wrote above is spot on. :handclap:

There are games when I am ready to toss in the towel myself. Yesterday is a perfect example. How Washington's players are allowed to pull this BS and get away with it all game long is causing this lady to become bald from pulling my hair out!

Yet two Bruins, Krejci and Chara, got absolutely ridiculous calls for roughing in separate games the last two weeks, the look on Krejci's face was priceless when he was called for it. This may seem minor to others on here, but when I see opposing players all game long hacking, chopping, tripping, slashing, boarding and interfering with our goalies/players on a nightly basis with no calls, or sometimes, the opposition gets a PP because heaven forbid, our players lose it and go after them, you can bet that Boston fans have had enough!

The other night, we had Moore grabbed, punched, and held back from the play that just went on and on for at least 30 seconds- I was literally screaming at the refs for a penalty on that one, and of course, the ref did absolutely nothing until Moore slugged him back- then both were out for roughing, creating a four on four. The ref was looking at them the entire time!

So basically, you are correct- they consistently discipline the Bruins players while others get away with chopping fingers off and taking out our key players with boarding hits- no penalties called on these beasts.

Eventually, though, this will catch up with the league. Fans will tire of the Ovie/Crosby lovefest (many already have tired of this dynamic duo), and their ability to get away with everything, just because they are "elite" players. Fans around the league as well as Boston fans are questioning this more lately- not because we are defending Marchand- no, I haven't seen many do that, at least not on here or offline. We're only asking that it be called consistently, league wide, regardless of the player and their status or reputation.

I used to enjoy watching Ovie and Crosby when the B's weren't playing. Now, I am disgusted by both, with all that they have gotten away with over the years. Ovi has been disciplined before, but it takes quite a few infractions before he even gets a whiff from the refs! Ridiculous!

Please stick around and suffer with the rest of us Lunatic Fringers. I've always enjoyed your posts and would rather read a rant from you than no post at all.

I'm ready to tell the refs to "beat the streets" and stop acting like "old farts in the mitten". I wouldn't mind if a few of them went "ass over teakettle" (Jack Edwards must be part Newfie himself! ).

Great day to you!

I didn't get to see the game, but what was the deal with Doby? He was sick? Did he know he was sick before the game and didn't let on?

I'd like to know the situation. Maybe he saw the crap Rask had to take for being sick?

They had mentioned a flu bug going around the Bruins and Red Sox. Was the first I had heard of it.
