Oh son of a *****! That Doughty hit looks like a separated shoulder. I've separated my shoulder in that exact play. That can be as little as 1-2 weeks or as much as 6-8 weeks if that's what it is depending on the severity. He really needs to be alright.

Same thing happened to my brother. He was out for two weeks.

Upper body injury for Doughty, not expected to return

That's what I thought as well.

Yeah AC separation. IF, and I stress the IF since I know nothing, that's what it is it's bad news. Not only is it bad now, the really bad thing about AC separations is that each time you do it it becomes progressively easier to do it again. It's why I have separated my left should 3 times, my right 4 times. And that's just in my 9 years of high level hockey. I am supposed to have surgery on my right shoulder as well. Urgh, I know I am imagining worst case scenario here, but the way that play went it really looks like an AC separation (point of contact, not instant pain, etc).

Him not coming back isn't a big deal really. We have third and really can't get any higher without winning out and SJ losing out. So if he had a hangnail he would be out for the night.

Well, if Drew is injured for a lenghty period of time, this team will either put their tails between their legs or they'll man up and rally, which is what I think they will do.

Don't even really care about this game, Third in Four nights, back to back, with Sharks having two nights off.

Meh...

If yours was similar, how long did it take you to get 100%?

I've had AC separations 7 times. Yeah. The worst time it was about 8 weeks before 100%. Shortest time was about 2 weeks. However although it was 100%, the really tricky thing about shoulder injuries is that even once the shoulder is 100% is takes quite a while to get "confidence" back in that shoulder. If you think about it you can make the play, but you sub-consciously you shy away from contact on the shoulder which is hard to overcome. Takes time even once 100% to get back fully into form. And of note is that each time you have an AC separation is becomes quite a bit easier to do it again. It weakens the muscles in the area, it's something you can never repair. You just have to keep strengthen those muscles every time to try to prevent it, but no matter what you do it'll never be "100%" again.

This sucks.

We lose one of our best players in a completely meaningless game, probably other than Quick and Kopi the guy we can't afford to lose.

This will be a disaster if DD is out, a complete disaster.
