Yeah but it's the implied reason why people didn't believe in him... which was that it was unfair and a problem from the franchise's end. The actual reason is because he didn't give them anything to believe in.
Brassard made similar comments when he was traded to New York. It's a problem because guys like him and Mason don't realize that they were a MAJOR reason why the Jackets were so bad. It's not like they were separate and just on a bad team... no, they were the BAD parts of that team! What Mason should have said was "it was good to get out of that environment because I felt like my play had let a lot of people down..." or something to that effect. Acknowledge that your play was bad.
If you want to be on a successful, winning team, play like a successful, winning player.
