Yeah but it's the implied reason why people didn't believe in him... which was that it was unfair and a problem from the franchise's end. The actual reason is because he didn't give them anything to believe in.

Brassard made similar comments when he was traded to New York. It's a problem because guys like him and Mason don't realize that they were a MAJOR reason why the Jackets were so bad. It's not like they were separate and just on a bad team... no, they were the BAD parts of that team! What Mason should have said was "it was good to get out of that environment because I felt like my play had let a lot of people down..." or something to that effect. Acknowledge that your play was bad.

If you want to be on a successful, winning team, play like a successful, winning player.

And yes, I stopped believing in Mason. And of course Mason needed a fresh start. So did Bobrovsky. But I didn't read him whining about the Flyers organization or how nobody believed in him.

Young kids make mistakes - especially when great responsibility is thrusted upon them. Sometimes they need to be given a clean slate to take it to the next level. That's all this is.

The stuff about Mason's time in Columbus is just whining. He should have been grateful the CBJ gave him such a long time - and all those millions of dollars - to try to turn things around. Instead, we get this.
