Can both sides agree that there is evidence something is up with him off the ice, but also that he’s at worst a decent player on the ice and far better than some of the garbage Detroit is icing?

Yup, that's pretty much it I think. We don't know what he's like in the locker room or with management. He was bad in the second half last year though. So I wouldnt say far better than...

I don't always go on the Wings board but from what I saw it was a pretty heavy majority that liked him. Maybe he became a scapegoat at the end of the season and I missed it though

He fell out of favour during the second half last year. Maybe not to the extent that some wings fans tries to show in this thread but definitely looked bad and fans noticed it.

Decent player, wasn't working out in Detroit.. got moved with term so attached asset... chance to thrive and grow in San Jose, locker room issues in Detroit so he wasn't sticking around (like Vrana, Mantha, Bertuzzi to varrying degrees) I don't get why this thread continues to discuss this like it was a make or break moment for Detroit or Yzerman, or that he was some long tenured guy we got robbed of and had to ship out.

There were no locker room issues with Bert or Mantha. They were both well liked in Detroit.

There's a balance here in a situation like this between finding a way to make it work out vs just dumping a guy and watching him succeed elsewhere.

For me I don't know all the ins & outs of the Detroit lineup but it remains a topic of interest because as a Canuck fan we got Hronek in a similar manner and this just seems an extension of that. As Yzerman is trying to ice a competitive team I can't help but think they'd be much better off right now with a top 4 of Edvinsson-Seider Walman-Hronek. What they actually have just seems like an exercise in mediocrity by Yzerman.

You didn't get Hronek in a similar manner at all. Wings got assets for him and there was no locker room stuff about him at all. He was likely moved, because Steve didn't want to give him that kind of contract.

Detroit’s top 10 in (least) goals against.
Walman is being scratched for off-ice reasons on one of the worst NHL teams.

Can we stop both sides-ing this and have some people admit Yzerman had reason to move this dude?

Walman has been scratched for one game this season, the Sharks gave up a season high 50 shots against that night, they were playing the Columbus Blue Jackets

It's safe to say that Walman has had quite a positive impact on the Sharks this year, this scratch is either related to off-ice issues, injury issues, or it's just as likely the youngest head coach in the league is making a mistake by making an example of his best impact D man rather than scratching one of the several boat anchors on the Sharks back end that routinely get caved in every night
