The Rangers can never figure out how to use these end of season games properly. Not just Gallant but DQ did the same thing by playing someone like Howden over Kakko despite the team already being mathematically eliminated. This is the time to be resting players like Panarin/Kreider/Zibanejad/Copp and just throwing tons of minutes at Lafreniere and Kakko, even just solely for the sake of building up a sample size to figure out what the hell this team actually has in those two players, a question that somehow still has no real answer multiple seasons in.

This has been a bugbear of mine since the cap was introduced. We have the resources to be the absolute tip of the spear regarding training and support, yet we seem just cruise by. Dolan was happy to spend bonkers $$ onshit teams during the Dark Ages, but can't invest in off-ice support once the cap comes in?
