Overall game has fallen? Are you sure you're not getting players confused? And, what are you - an NHL scout? Cmon dude...

I watch every game, just like you do, but I tend to try not to look at the Jackets or any team with rose colored glasses. I call it as I see it. You may do that as well, but I'm just telling you what I do.

It doesn't take an NHL scout to locate when a player is playing well and when they aren't. You're doing the exact same damn thing with Jones, Johansen, hell about everybody on this team, and board does the same exact thing. What kind of argument are you even making here?

Pointless going on with you. Feel free to continue to take trash our best defensive player who has had a bad game every now and then (like everyone does) but, has largely been the best for us. Which is something that seems apparent to pretty much everybody except you - hence my belief you think you're some type of NHL scout.

If you were a GM of any team in the NHL, would you take on Clarkson's hit of $5.25M for the next four years in return for a first and second round pick?

Depends on where the first round pick is - top 3 pick then yes I would consider it IF I had salary cap room and needed a 4th line or 13th forward.

Outside of top 3 - no way, no how.

I also think Jones went through a lull. But the moment he went back to Murray-Jones, Jones looked fine.

So what does that say about Murray.. :naughty: :yo:

I've noticed it long time ago. Whoever plays with him looks better. Even in Murray's 1st NHL season Wiz's defensive laps didn't look as obvious as they were when Ryan got injured. Even Connauton looked better when he was paired with Murray for a few games, even though he had to play right side.
Honestly, I don't think Jones has deserved that long term big contract. Murray is a better, more steady defenseman right now, but Jones ceiling is higher. Jones' shouldn't get more than 4.5 mil. a year on a long term deal.

Talking trash is saying "he's struggled the last while" and the other various ways I've said the same thing? My god. You don't make any sense, sorry.

You said his game went off a cliff. Which is pretty dramatic if I might add.

He's had 2-3 games he struggled. Like any young player. Yet, he's still our most valuable and consistent asset on defense. So tell me, who's not making sense?

You, because I have never said anything that is different the last part of your statement.

It is possible to judge a player, even if it's not good, and still realize how valuable they are. I'm not advocating a Jones trade, or that he sucks or whatever, he's just struggled mightily recently, in my opinion.

Cool - keep in mind your "opinion" of his game falling off a cliff is far from reality.

In your opinion .

Jan- 0 goals, 6 assists in 11 games
Feb- 1 goal, 6 assists in 13 games
Mar- 1 goal, 4 assists in 11 games with 2 to play

Wrong. It's an educated opinion based on reality, not what I think I know.

And if that's still not enough to quit the stubbornness of your posts, make a new thread, make a poll and you'll see you're in the minority when it comes to Jones. Thanks.

If points meant everything Ryan Johansen would still be a Blue Jacket. That's reality. I thought you were done talking about this? Thanks

The numbers don't lie. What they show is you were over dramatic in your "game falling off a cliff" post.

And we could have been done but, you've insisted on defending your uneducated post.

Again, if points meant you were playing well, Johansen would still be a Blue Jacket. Jones is a good player, he's just struggling.

You keep bringing up the same points, mostly Jones' point totals, as your defense of him, and MY posts are uneducated? That's good stuff.

What have you mentioned that validates your over dramatic posts? Nothing. That says everything I need to from here on out.

Spewing out uneducated opinions is just making you look silly but if you're ok with then so be it.

Awesome, I was hoping you would say that first part of your statement. Allow me to go through my opinion..

Jones will always be a great skater and look like he's doing the right thing most of the time. However, especially during the Nashville game (and I realize everyone was awful outside of Korpi, just hear me out.) he made a play where the forechecker was coming at him, so he turned around and through it off the boards behind the net, the puck bounced off and went right to a Pred.

Another moment, he was skating through the NZ with the puck, got into the zone (because of his great skating) and fell once he got in, this then set up an odd man rush.

Again these are just two examples from the same game (there are many others). But not too long ago he and Dubinsky got caught puck watching on a last minute powerplay against the Rangers, and Stepan got a SH breakaway goal because of this. These are typical mistakes by young Dmen, and that's fine in this awful season, but it just makes my point that he's struggled mightily and has not been the same player he was in January when he got here, when he was fantastic.

Now I realize you're going to poo-poo these observations due to no video support. And that's fine, it is after all my 'uneducated' opinion. But other than his points totals (which are good), what has he done recently as a defenseman that warrant your huge praise?

If you post that, I might respond in a PM since we're just flooding the GDT with our conversation.

You're using "fallen off a cliff" over two instances of a small lapse? As if players play perfect games?

Cmon dude. No one plays a perfect game and if that's what you're using to justify "struggling mightily" then I feel sorry for you man. I'm almost at a loss of words at how you're trying to relate a few instances that happen to pretty much any hockey player during the course of a game to Jones.

Do I really need to bold and underline the sentence "there are many other (examples)"

Lol, what you need to do is realize not every player plays a perfect game and Jones has been far from "falling off a cliff" - because you're explanation is absolutely silly if you're watching games, nit picking how he turns a certain way and saying "ohhhh yupppp, gosh darn it he sure is struggling mightily"

Give me stats, give me plays that actually lead to goals. Give me the concrete stuff, not the believe-I'm-a-scout explanations

I don't think Jones has looked as good as he did in the beginning either. The point is you're saying that Jones is still good Bc he has good stats, what CBJWennberg41 is saying is that if stats were the only thing that decided whether someone was playing well or not, then Johansen played well all year here.

Johansen played great for us did you see the numbers he was putting up? You're crazy if you think otherwise. -You (if it were the other way around)

Everyone around here is acting like Jones is perfect already. In reality it's going to take time, you don't need to be upset that he isn't playing well recently because he will turn it around. However to say he's Jesus every game and has not been anything but perfect is incorrect.

You know how hard it is to explain why Ryan Murray is playing well? That's how it is explaining how Jones is not. Show me those highlights that Murray does that shows he's playing well, you can't. But whatever. It's just my opinion, you're making it out to be far more than what it is.

I'm not saying Jones hasn't had a bad game here and there - especially when paired with other players. But "struggled mightily" ? His last name is not Golo/Prout

What I am saying that being dramatic and saying his game has "fallen off a cliff" when pretty much the entire team in general has stunk - is the wrong thing to say.

Phrase it correctly and there's never an argument to begin with. Backing up an opinion with "I saw this and I saw that" is hilarious - and wrong.

Okay, so he exaggerated that claim. But Seth Jones has not been as great as he was right after the trade, is what you would agree with
