Post-Game Talk: GAME 71 - The Bruins wave the white flag - San Jose 3 BRUINS 1

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

The problem is getting someone else to bite on it. If someone overpays, see ya, but I don't see it happening for a good enough return. Maybe EDM or COL would cut off a left nut. They're always knocking at the door.
Edmonton, I did not realize that team is aging, you might be right, time for them to get something done. Would you suggest taking back a short-term contract, if that would help make something happen, I do not want something that handicaps this team going forward cap wise.

One positive from this game. There is no quit in this team for the most part. They've been fighting, blocking shots, skating hard despite being outgunned. And we know that is NOT coming from the coaching staff (bunch of losers). So that means there is some sort of leadership group forming, Pasta, Zaddy, some younger guys? developing, pushing the guys forward. They look rudderless nonetheless without proper coaching.
You may be right that they are showing no quit, and I like that, but does that put a bigger spotlight on their lack of talent, I think it does. To many players being asked to do what they are not capable.

He needs a good long run not a few games here or there .I saw him do some good stuff but he is a bit timid on the walls which is understandable. He had one nice play where he drew a penalty cutting across oppositions blueline.A player needs lots of reps at this level to find his footing so hopefully they let him finish out the season here.I missed most of 3rd period so commenting on earlier in game.
Give him his looks and then draw your conclusion.

So the right play on a 3-3 is to leave your guy and skate boards to boards puck chasing? OK.

In your first image, #9 is ahead of the play, and covered by Wotherspoon. Koepke is on #74, level with the puck. However, by the time the puck carrier crosses the blue line (second image), 9 and 74 have swapped spots. 74 is F2, and 9 is now trailing the play, and is F3.

As the backchecker, Koepke has switched men, and is chasing F3 (not the puck). In most defensive systems, I'd say this is the correct play... provided Wotherspoon sees the same thing and also switches coverage.

Since I don't know the B's system, I'll hold off on assigning blame to the players, but will absolutely give the finger to the coaching staff. By this point in the season, understanding that coverage should be second nature to the players by benefit of many reps in practice.

Yea he hits on a player here there but very little faith in him building it from the ground up, which is basically where we are( cue, we missing Chuck and Hampus fans) .He has to find a way to get a # 1 centre either through trade the draft or pure luck but he has to do that. They cannot keep going without it and expect good results or their fortunes to change. Its another reason why not challenging never bothered me.He needs all the help he can get.Come on ping pong balls.
I don’t want Sweeney near this team on draft day, hopefully he’ll be unemployed by then.

They're still playing hard that's got to be a credit to the coaching staff too.

Maybe they can get someone like Tortorella in here, he knows how to turn a team around, what's he up to these days anyway?

If they are "outgunned" by literally the worst team in the league, then that's not a coaching issue.

Interesting, because Monty's rudderless system seems to be working in STL.

Perhaps the problem with the Bruins begins higher up than the 3 coaches this GM will have fired.
He has a top line centre there at least..Calgary sitting 2 pts back of Blues for last spot with 2 games at hand however.Cant remember where Blues were sitting when he took them over .Think Thomas was hurt.though.

Kinda seems like Sweeney taking a flyer on Lindholm and signing him to 7.5 for so long is what caused some issues to tumble

It likely had a role in pushing swayman to ask for more than 8. And absolutely played a role in Marchand asking for 7.5

Sweeney has made a lot of good moves over the years but he seems to be good for one over reach every year.

Belesky. Nash. Backes. Reilly. John Michael Liles. Lindholm

Lindholm mighta been a good get but he shoulda played hardball and gotten him to sign for under 7 or for less years. If players don’t like it they can go be someone else’s problem.

Colleagues don’t like being paid less than their colleagues that underperform compared to them.

I don't support tanking or losing on purpose. That last play of the night, while we will never know for sure, it looked bad. Sure looked like throwing the game. I lose all respect for that.

There are other teams which built their teams on questionable losses, and I don't respect the way they built their teams, either. Finish the season and respect the game and your fans, please.

Tankathon has the B's at the 8th pick now.
They are 8th now, going by pts per games played. Best case scenario is 6th but everything has to line up perfectly. Flyers are tanking like a ruskie ship in the Black Sea. The Pens and Ducks could get past them and maybe just maybe Seattle. It should end up anywhere between 8th and 12th.

He took over a team that had a .432 pct. Under him they are .675

BOS was .475 w/ Monty and .490 w/ Sacco. Basically the same team.

It's crazy to see a team that was playing Brazzeau, Koepke, Lettieri and other flotsam and jetsam in the top 6 this year and think that the coaching is the primary problem.

Probably not, that’s why I won’t be attending any more games.
I like watching Pasta play but even he has looked like he has had enough the last couple games .It's hard though to pay the prices to go watch this product because it's not cheap by time you get to the destination, park the car,buy tickets and have some snacks. And if you are taking others with you it's even harder on the pocketbook.I am sure the Bruins will see some drop off in attendance eventually before this gets fixed.

Showed some flashes of his talent. Definitely had an effort. Drew a penalty. He’s definitely shown just as much if not more than the other jags call ups and Beecher.

Negatives is he still wanders from his position. Caught him at least twice being all the way over to the otherside in the defensive zone battling along with his other winger. Offensively same thing but usually it’s a little more forgiving there, but it can mess with the cycle.

So not bad kind of expected needs more looks to see if he shakes out mistakes or at least outweighs them

Honestly, like others are saying he didn’t blow me away. He definitely still looks like a kid playing in the NHL.

In the other hand I thought his speed was very obvious, and he was looking to shoot the puck and make plays. Created way more than some other guys currently on the team. I’m glad he’s getting the rest of the road trip. Him and Khusy looked pretty good together especially with Mittlestadt centering them.

That is why and hope no one is thinking I did not want the kid to score, but today everyone posting is giving honest thoughts on what they saw out of the kid last night. If Lysell scored it be, "I told you this kid belongs up here". My opinion, is a mixed bag, I like the penalty drew, speed, kept his feet moving, lets watch for a few more games. I want to see Minton up next, I have seen enough of Merkolov and Poitras.

By all measures and my own eye test Lysell was our best forward last night besides maybe Pasta. His line was dominant all night. Have no idea how you guys aren’t seeing how good he was.
