It's time for Keefe to take advantage of the last change. Send out the Kerfoot/Nylander line against the Danault line. It's obvious that Matthews could not do a thing when Danault shadowed him all series.
But those 2 can? Give me a break.

If they lose this game I’m actually all in to blow it all up and start another rebuild. Shoot for Shane Wright or Connor Beddard. Matthews can probably stay but even he is a choker. Front office and the rest of the roster can get the f*** out for futures. Had enough of seeing this useless core.

Campbell has been excellent and Freddy isn't even playing so can't pin it on him.. What excuses are we going with this time around?

That's the only positive so far. I think we have found our number one goalie for the foreseeable future. He has been dynamite under pressure throughout the series.

This is the last time this team ever tricks me lol

I've been cynical of them all season, despite playing well. I've probably been one of the more negative in game / post game posters on the board all season and I was obnoxiously vocal about my disdain for the Foligno trade, before and after it happened... Why?

I was annoyed all season because this team still routinely showed / shows the lack of professionalism it takes to be successfull in the playoffs. The same stupid delay of game penalties in the regular season, which SURPRISE, have showed up again in the playoffs. The same too many men on the ice penalties that are a product of lack of focus. The same awful powerplay for 2 months down the stretch, which was obviously going to be an issue come playoff time, and it has. The same silly collapses, against teams they have no business losing against... As for the Foligno trade, the guy has produced nothing like a top 6 player in the last 4 years, yet Toronto paid a premium for him.

This team, despite their record, still showed obvious signs of immaturity and a lack of professionalism and that has showed up, again, in this 1st round.

even if we lose, who the heck would take that marner contract? willy at least scores. matthews sucks, lots of guys hurt, 90% of the team cant take or give a hit, the ones that do are old or injured. Marner sucks at so many basic things like shot or taking a hit, too fancy, no goals in like 17 games in playoffs?! cmon man! so soft, useless really. 11 million lol.

Riddlee this .
The first 2 periods 15 shots.
The 3 period 15 shots
OT 13 shots

I didn't watch the game , efford or something else ?

I'd try to get New York to bite for Zibanejad. I'd rather take his 5.3 million back, sign a guy like Jaden Schwartz as a free agent and move Tavares and Nylander to Matthews' wing.

Something like...

Tavares-Matthews-Nylander
Schwartz-Zibanejad-Hyman

Haha just recently I had this discussion with @zeke. He keeps talking about how well we've played in the playoffs despite losing. I said that the probability of the Leafs losing in the 1st round every year for the last 4 years was roughly 10%, hard to call that playing sell. Zeke replied with "your math is wrong". I say no, my math is fine, if you say I'm wrong then show me. @zeke disappears.

I was only estimating of course and as these numbers from the Athletic show, I was actually shading the numbers slightly in the Leafs favour. @zeke is constantly quoting the Athletic, maybe reading this would force him to tear his eyes away from his spreadsheets and acknowledge the hard truth.

Really hope we win tomorrow night. Losing to MTL would be the low point in my 50+ years of following this team.
Zeke will always be a fanboy. He supports every decision the club makes. It's not easy to have a rational discussion with fans like that.

is robertson injured? surely he's better than ilya mikheyev. pat quinn had the guts to sit a still ok ron francis in an elimination game but keefe is afraid of jumbo joe and keeps playing him on the pp.

Even if they win (which they won't), how do you take pride in this? Montreal isn't even a playoff team. You're going to be proud of blowing a 3-1 lead and needing 7 to win against these guys? That too after forcing comebacks in games 5 and 6 only to lose in OT both times

If they win, it’s better than losing. Boston needed an epic comeback to beat a terrible Leafs team (way worse than this MTL team).

I have no hope of them winning but if they do win, it would be like taking the weight of the Titanic off their shoulders. It could propel them deep into the playoffs.

Nylander Matthews Marner
Foligno Kerfoot Hyman
Mik Nash Engvall
Thornton Spezza Simmonds

Sad part is that the weathered the storm they knew Habs would throw at them in the first and they have owned the 2nd period. Dumb interference penalty to Willie, dumb goal challenge by Keefe. dumber puck flip by Marner, Dermott giveaway sealed it.

If healthy, put Foligno on the top line to try and light a spark. He is like an older brother while Hyman is a colleague,

Reunite Galchenyuk with Kerfoot/Nylander

Put Hyman with Spezza for three balanced and potentially dangerous lines.

Throw the Habs a curveball as they try and get through the series using four D Men.

If the Habs should win Game 7, it'll be because of one reason and one reason only:

CAREY PRICE

Price is only one reason. Toronto's top line, particularly Marner, have shown an unbelievably poor ability to finish high danger chances, going back to game 1. How many times in this series have they had a wide open net / semi open net, that they just flat out failed to bury a chance in? A puck hopping over a stick. Marner making one too many moves instead of just shooting the puck when Price is out. Matthews and Hyman unable to elevate a puck over Price's pad, or missing the net high and outside (sometimes terribly) unlike Montreal's players...

Price has been great, but the Leafs top line have been HORRENDOUS finishers.

I do wonder if we’d be in this position had we not traded Barabanov. I know it’s best to look forward but.....

I honestly don't know what to do if they lose. I know who I want out, but I can't say I have any confidence in who to bring in.

You need a certain personality and that's almost impossible to tell at 18 years old.

Retool seems like the route, likely with a focus on players with high effort and high pressure tolerance.
