Game #7: Kings vs. Sabres - 10/23/14 Kings Beat The Sabres 2-0; ALL HAIL QUICK!

But they were beloved.

Maybe I just believe that it should be harder to do get your number retired. It makes it mean more imo

Harder? Being the first captain to bring a Cup to LA. Being the first U.S. born captain to lead his team to 2 Stanley Cups? Those two alone gives Brown a direct route to having his number retired. Kopi? He's led the team in scoring since he came into the league, and led the league in playoff scoring both Cup runs. In my opinion, they've already made space for #23 & #11 in the rafters.

I guess you could make an argument for Kopi, but all those "achievements" are just team accomplishments. I don't think Brown deserves it. Clearly I'm the only one that thinks that.

So Carter needs to go to. Without Carter we don't win. Martinez too?

We're talking about team accomplishments. That's why teams usually retire jersey's. We're not talking league wide jersey retirements or HHOF. There's a difference.

On the topic of McNabb starting to adjust, and Forbort taking on a larger role in Manchester.

Can you imagine going against the potential Kings D in a few years. Muzzin/McNabb/Forbort are all huge.... one on each line is crazy. Especially since most see the latter 2 as SAD but both I think can evolve into more hybrids that can atleast toss a solid outlet, unlike Greene/RR.

I don't think the criteria for jersey retirement is that much about team accomplishments, or about individual accomplishments.

It's more so about what that player means to the organization and its fans.

No I am partly with you.

Of course his number should be retired, just on his performance in the playoffs of 2012 alone. He was at his best back then, something he never showed before. Unfortunately it also ended there.

For the rest of his career, he was a solid role player/2nd liner, sometimes hall of very good. Nothing more. Lets face it, when exactly did he standout last season. He did his job, wasnt a liability but he should be glad he got the chance to lift the cup twice. Who cares he's the first american captain to lift the cup twice, just because some people made him the captain. If Kopitar would have had captaincy, he would been the first Slovenian player ever. Well wow...

What is happening on the ice, that counts.

If Brown retires a King , I don't see why they wouldn't retire his jersey.

If Brown continues his 20G 40+ points per season from here on out. Also plays on average 70+ games. He will retire having played the most games all time (or close to it) for a Kings player.

Possibly Top Five in Goals+points scored. Longest serving captain if I am correct right(If her retires around 36/37) ? Captained two Cups already, was in the Playoff MVP race in 2012(14 points in 26 games in 2014)Brown has 46 points in 76 playoff games. An Absolute rock in the LA community.

Brown is having a storied Career in LA.

Kopitar is my favorite player, all time. I like him even more than Wayne#99.

I was just young when Wayne played, and don't really appreciate that I got to watch him play.

I am old enough now to really enjoy watching Kopitar play all 200ft of ice. Watched Kopitar since his late teens, Love the guy.

It doesn't seem like too big a stretch for the numbers of the #1 center, defenseman, goalie, and team captain, of at least a 2 time Cup champ, who were all drafted and developed by the organization, to be hung up. Colorado retired Bourque's number, and he was there for like 5 minutes. 3 of the 5 current names up there didn't even start with the Kings, and Robitaille was traded once, and then left as a free agent as well.

So you are telling me, that people in LA don't like Kopitar? Is that true, LA Kings fans?

I was more referring to Brown, when talking about beloved player. If you had to chose between Kopi and Brown to raise to the rafters who it be?

Well now, let me see.

Every game I go to, Kopi's no. 11 jersey is by far the most popular one worn in Staples Center.

So you tell me.
