Atkinson is a good player who's having a rough stretch. And he's more than just third on the team in scoring. When he's on his game he is a devil on the forecheck. Last couple games he's got his feet moving again, its just his confidence and puck play are a bit weak now, but I don't think you improve that with more scratches. Cam belongs out there.

there's more to this than just the lack of scoring...I'm fine with him sitting, he needs to earn the playing time and start playing and practicing like 3rd in scoring on this team

While I agree he should play, and has the talent to play and be a 25+ goal scorer, he just doesn't have it right now and its that time of year when the bodies will be banging. I would rather have Comeau sit and play Cam, but I understand the decision.

I hope so, I'm a little tired of the same backhand forehand five hole shot he always does.

We may have an issue with Cam in the offseason.

The whole "banging bodies" argument is pretty lame - we don't need to roll four lines of hitters.

Are the Canes scratching Semin because he doesn't hit? Do the Wings scratch Datsyuk because he doesn't hit? No - they have roll players who do that work and the roll the lines accordingly.

Dubie, Foligno, the fourth line, we have plenty of guys who can hit.

Cam should be in the lineup, playing on the top 6 and on the PP - if it's a tight game, we're protecting a 1 goal lead, or we're on the PK, then we can cut his ice time. It's basic coaching and I'm going to be really annoyed if we run another skill guy out of town for no reason.

Look I didn't want Gaborik moved and I like Cam (although I'm OK with him sitting), but let's not suggest that "a reason I disagree with" is the same as "no reason."

The same people who were saying that Gabby didn't fit the team identity are defending Cam. That's strange, cause both of them pretty much useless if they don't produce offensively.
Look at the numbers. Gabby was playing through the injuries and scored 14(6+8) points in 22 games, which is on pace for 54(23+31) points in 82 games. Cam is on pace for the same amount of goals and way less assists (somewhere 23+20).
I would like to know the way of Cam's defenders thinking. I think he's was killing possession in offensive zone. He's useless for cycle, he's not a possession guy, he need another guys working to create space for him. Yes, he plays hard, but he would have been somewhere in Europe if he wasn't giving his all.

Whoa whoa. Do we have more than just a couple comments from Cam in the Porty story from last week or whenever? I'm gonna need more than that for this to be a "valid point."

And damn if there's not some serious piling on going on in here.

I like Cam alot, but I'm fine with Tropp and Matty in the lineup over him at this point. Cam is an undersized goal scorer, with decent speed. When he is cold, he's going to sit.

There is some truth to that, but the difference is the price tag.

We also have to consider we are playing a depeleted blue line Carolina team, ripe for our physical forecheck style of play. I expect us to dump, chase, and hemm them in for 75% of the game. We need the Calvert/Tropp skill set tonight more than Cam's sniping ability.

False. Completely different players. Cam's been off his game for a month or so now but he's not a floater. He's also a surprisingly good forechecker, often the first one in throwing his body at guys and getting underneath. And he's always been a pretty good possession player.

Has Cam been any worse than Calvert? I like Tropp's physical approach to the game, but come on, how does it make the Jackets better to scratch their third-leading goal scorer?

For a 10 games stretch, yes. Calvert hasn't been bad, he's playing his role.

He's just having a rough stretch lately, but Cam has been first one in on many many forechecks. Are our memories that bad?

His game was fine until recently. He shouldn't say anything different.

What if Atkimov had scored one goal since Jan. 30th?
Or three less than Horton? His 4th doesn't count until 4/9-LOL.

Add me to the why does Cam sit group. Package him and Erixon for a heavyweight plus a conditional 4th liner when Cam scores 25 goals. :sarcasm:

Just win. Richards is on one of his witch hunts. Don't like it; but I'm not going to ***** about it for the next 5 pages. It's not that big of a deal. Get over it already.

funny enough, the situations are very similar...minus comments like the one DBJ posted from Joey

Comments from Joey? And the tweet earlier? I feel like there's a whole other conversation taking place that I'm not privy to. Can anyone provide links or context to what the hell people are talking about?

I just might ***** about it for 5 pages. When a guy goes all out the way Cam does throwing his body at much bigger players for 100 games and then has a rough stretch and folks (including his coach) are ready to immediately treat him like he's Marian Gaborik? That's not right.

If I was him I might think I'd be better off on another team where they appreciate hard working guys.

i meant that I don't remember Joey making comments to the press that he wasn't going to change his game...Cam made those to Shawn Mitchell...but the pouting and being unengaged is similar
