As for the Atkinson scratch, I'm on board. What have you done for me lately is what is going on here. Also which players will give me the best chance to get the W, in Richard's mind.

What I see that Richards wants out of all of his lines is three forwards that can play the cycle game. Atkinson does not play a good cycle game. Cam is a better perimeter player than a grinding forward. Right or wrong on Richard's part, he is going with the bigger more physical lineup.

Richard's said yesterday after practice that Comeau was playing now that his two game suspension was up.

Tropp has brought energy and yes some offensive zone ability when he is in the lineup.

I would be surprised if Cam took these scratches laying down. That he is griping about is a good thing.

I feel like these boards have collectively stepped in a pile of BS. Most of Atkinson and Calvert's goals come from driving the net and whacking pucks in around the crease. They look like skill players but when they're most effective they are physical players. I agree that Atkinson hasn't been playing that way lately, but people seem to entirely forget what kind of player he can be and think he is a perimeter player like Gaborik. It's a total mischaracterization.

I guess you see it differently then. Most times when Atkinson is confronted behind the net or in the corners, he gets separated from the puck. I am not saying we don't need him or his game, but his game lately has not been what it had been.

Atkinson has scored 18 goals this season. Its ridiculous that he is getting scratched for a 4th line player.

great pinch by Tyutin...ugh.

and hey, a goal by short Nathan Gerbe, who is in the game and not scratched even though he doesn't bang bodies...

I feel like you either have a very good memory or living in the past. You remember Atkinson driving the net! Maybe you also could remind me of the last game when he was effective at cycling? In the recent games I've watched he tried to play exactly like Gaborik without hiss skill set. He's not a good perimeter player, he rarely played on the PP for that reason, but tries to play like the one recently. We don't consider Gabby as a speedy dynamic shooter any more, but should still consider Atkinson as someone who's good at cycling and capable of coming out of the boards with a puck? I don't see it any more for a long while.

Gaborik is in a long run decline caused by physical problems. Atkinson was fine just a matter of a month or two ago. That shouldn't be forgotten.
