I don't think it's win a faceoff to save their lives, it more they don't win the important face offs like when killing a penalty or late in the game defending a lead

well it's usually right around 50% for most teams isn't it? Really, anything below 50 is sorta weak. Nobody is saying it's super critical I don't think...just nice to be able to get one at certain critical points

It's never a big distance in any year, which is why worrying about team faceoffs is pointless.

San Jose was 50.2; think about those slight differences versus them winning 4 faceoffs in a row and how the impact appeared to have on the game.

Especially against San Jose. I can remember a game a few seasons ago where we were tied with less than 10 seconds left with a face-off in our own zone. Pretty sure Vlasic was the one that drove in the dagger.

Maybe this is the type of game the Jets need. They know they can't score themselves out of trouble and getting down 2 is a death sentence.

Maybe they'll focus on systems and driving offense from good defensive structure.
