They won’t be able to afford JTC, it’ll be Newhook
Luckily he's still on his rookie contr.....oh my god we're f***ed. CMAc is definitely giving this scrub a 3.5 x 4 contract this offseason.

At this point I wouldn't even mind them trying Newhook at 2C again. Compher has been worse. They won’t be able to afford JTC, it’ll be Newhook
The window has a real chance too. Avs can still salvage it, but it isn’t going to be easy. When the Toews deal ends this team could be in big trouble. Window shutting hard.
I wouldn’t say that. Nuke, Landeskog , Girard all being healthy to start the year would be a difference maker alone. Then you add Byram taking another step and adding weight to his frame. Those are things you should be able to count on. Then you tinker with the rest of the roster to make the pieces fit better than it has this year. Saying you’re guaranteed a worse team is a terrible way to attack an off-season.As much as this sucks… actually a worse team is coming back next year.
Compher has absolutely not been worse. Compher sucks, but Newhook is a disaster there. At this point I wouldn't even mind them trying Newhook at 2C again. Compher has been worse.

There will be injuries still. Zero guarantee Byram will be better. The cap is an absolute disaster. The reality is this team either keeps the core and depth is far worse than this year. Or they move a core player for depth. Either way the chances are high this team is worse. Sucks, but reality sucks sometimes.I wouldn’t say that. The good news is I think the East is going to clobber whoever comes out the west this season.Avs might win a round or two simply because of playoff experience, but this team isn't winning the cup.
There's nothing there. He's played like 150 NHL games and never done much. I don't think it's going to work, at least with the Avs.Also like how, now that the deadline has passed, Newhook has gone back to doing nothing. He was actually starting to come back to life.
Unless Winnipeg suddenly figures things out, or Nashville goes on some remarkable run, they Avs will be playing Minnesota in round 1.Hoping we miss the playoffs rather than get swept by the Oilers
Can't have 7M sitting out all year again next year. There will be injuries still. Zero guarantee Byram will be better. The cap is an absolute disaster. Considering the roles they're playing, I disagree. Newhook has just been a non factor. Compher has been a negative one. And if not him, the try eRod as the center and stick someone else on the wing. Like Malgin.Compher has absolutely not been worse. Compher sucks, but Newhook is a disaster there.
Nobody even knows if Landeskog will be healthy following his surgery let alone next season. You cannot bank on that.I wouldn’t say that. Still people dog piled me when I suggested the window could be short late summer and through the fall. Seeing it first hand here.
Watever happens to the Avs this season this MUST NOT happen. I will never hear the end of it.Hoping we miss the playoffs rather than get swept by the Oilers
The amount of times they just give the puck up is alarming. Toews has been horrible at managing the puck this season.Weren't even close to ready to compete with LA tonight. Sorry frustrating that they simply refuse to compete on a nightly basis.
Just a poor game all around. Can't even really point anyone out that had what I'd consider a good game. Couple ok guys, but mostly f***ing terrible.
Newhook facing 2nd line competition has been a disaster each time. If he’s there, the Avs concede that line big time and not just Compher bad… utterly caved in.Considering the roles they're playing, I disagree. Newhook has just been a non factor. Compher has been a negative one. And if not him, the try eRod as the center and stick someone else on the wing. Like Malgin.
This whole Landeskog thing is getting blown completely out of f***ing proportion. Bednar was absolutely just talking about this season and playoffs. He's not gonna come back as f***ing Andrew Ladd.Nobody even knows if Landeskog will be healthy following his surgery let alone next season. You cannot bank on that.
MacKinnon is going to be making double the money next season, too. Manson is a year older. Compher/Rodrigues gone and likely replaced with worse players (even if Rodrigues stinks). Lack of NHL-ready prospects outside of J.L. Foudy who projects as a bottom six and more likely LOC type of player.
Shit is bleak. The Avs need to move on from one of Toews/Girard to help the forward corps and also need to move their 1st round pick for roster help.
They should have don’t something this year, but they didn’t.Can't have 7M sitting out all year again next year.
