Challenges by coaches do not belong. NHL can authorize a challenge on blatant error but nothing else.
Disagree here. Coaches should be able to challenge, don't leave it up to the league to fix it's mistake.

The issue , which I think most would agree with, is that playing "gotcha" for stuff that happened well in advance of the play, especially after BOS touched the puck in the defensive zone, shouldnt be allowed. Second Bruins gain possession of the puck, the entry is moot.

Not to be an ass, but I’m not into perpetual victim mentality.

People complain for and against it all the time regardless of player. I’m not into making it yet another “the Bruins are victimized”/“down on their knees for Bedard” complaint.
Well I definitely hate the offside challenge myself but ESPN just spent the entire review bitching about the length of time.

I’d be ok with the challenge needing to be issued within a certain time of the puck entering the zone.

Give teams a button or something and if they think the entry was offside they have to hit it within 10 seconds or something.

If the possession ends up with a goal they then review it immediately if the defending team has a pending challenge. If they didn’t have a challenge pending tough shit.

So make it entirely a visual decision from the bench, since the video guys mostly couldn't work that fast. That's not a bad idea. The league won't go for it though.

The fact that Chicago was in the zone for like 30 seconds creating plays, setting up, hell, Boston had possession and coughed it up resulting in the goal.

- Goal can’t be challenged if you’re in the zone for longer than 15 seconds.

- Goal can’t be challenged if defending team gains possession.

- Goals have to be reviewed at real time & not 9000 frames per second. Hockey isn’t played at that rate.

I just absolutely hate this rule more than anything in hockey. I get why it’s there, but it doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be tweaked.

With the loss of fire power in the offseason the PP this year needs to more consistent, not liking what I have seen so far.

Exactly.

Linesman don’t get the benefit of video reviews so the coaches shouldn’t either.

If the coaching staff eyeballed it better and thinks it’s offside they can queue up a challenge. Should cut down on the chintzy 2 mm offside stuff

I believe the NCAA rule is if the defending team touches/controls puck it negates the offside.
