I'm glad that it didn't bother you when Wiz-Murray pair was giving up goals against for like 20 games in a row. The pair was om the ice for a couple opposition team long shifts... Yeah, that's a reason to bench them.

I didn't say bench anyone, did I? Your hyperbole is tiring.

There's a problem there right now, and it could be as simple as Savard not being 100% since both have played well most of the season.

*Mason is playing great*
*Voracek is Philly's 2nd best forward*
*Nash is New York's best forward*
*Johansen is a #1 center*

Howson is probably sitting somewhere in Edmonton, slowly rocking himself back and forth, saying "I told them it would be so... I told them it would be so..."

Even Filatov is a best goals scorer on his KHL team.

I've noticed that they have been getting hemmed in for LONG shifts as well.

That said, it's also concerning that there seems to be a lack of offense from them. Not very many shots from the point, compared to what they were doing earlier in the season.

I have a dream.

A dream that one day, this board can move on from discussing what Scott Howson should or shouldn't get credit for.

People finally stopped talking about XGMDM, so it can happen, folks...

what that means then? How can you go a game without them being benched?

In theory you can split them up and give them new partners. Like have a Johnson - Savard and a Tyutin - Nikitin pairing.

You can't deny he was right about some things... just like 3 years too late. By the way, I think the current management staff is even better for what it's worth.

Say you have six pieces of fruit, an apple, a pear, a pineapple, an orange, a grape and a strawberry. If you don't like strawberries and grapes together, maybe you try one of them with an orange and the other with a pear. Sure, you could drop the strawberry for a banana, but you like strawberries ok, just not with grapes at this moment in time. Next week, grapes and strawberries might be better together but right now, they just aren't really going together as well as in the past.

It's probably just because one of them needs to ripen a little after being a little under the weather for a few games - no big deal and no reason for their biggest fan to get upset or anything.

I can't say I focused on Savard all game but he was standing around watching on the first Duck goal, right between the circles in front of Bob... as the Ducks skated around getting an easy goal.. I'm not so sure Savard is the right guy to be playing the automatic 6th defenseman right now.. but as with most players they can have bad games and good games, season trends are most important.

Didn't stay up to watch - sounds like I missed a good one. Big, big win. Can they do it twice more? That would be huge. :handclap:

Let me know when your dream becomes reality. Would like to see this to. He is gone, fired. Team moved on and is now having success without him. Would be nice if people can accept this.

Don't count on it anytime soon. People stopped talking about XGMDM because we all more or less agree, and we don't about Howson. He also just left, with guys he drafted just now entering the lineup. If anything we started writing the book on Howson too soon and we should be just beginning the writing now, not slamming the book shut.

For me it has nothing to do with moving on or anything to do with his firing, which I was fine with. And think about all of the things we talk about on these boards, why is an XGM a forbidden subject? Is there some cognitive dissonance going on?

If there is, will beer help? Or is it more of a chicken soup ailment?

Craig Patrick is gone too. After all, once Howson was gone, there was no need for Patrick. JD and JK actually knew what they were doing.

There are some knee-jerk reactions to certain names, including both ex-GMs, that get tiresome. Everyone has the right to their own opinions, so nothing much to do about it. I know I have my own favorites and whipping boys, too.

By the way, nice of you to visit!

If I wasn't familiar with your work I would assume you were parodying the anti-Howson view.

Hmmm, her name is Ginger Pettit, but she looks like a blonde to me! Holey smokes!!! The actress is named after a REAL employee at Huntington!

Is this based on the Huntington commercial? I clicked on the linkedin link and am pretty sure I went to high school with her.

Howson is probably sitting somewhere in Edmonton, slowly rocking himself back and forth, saying "I told them it would be so... I told them it would be so..."

Maybe I'm misunderstanding with Nash & Mason ...as they were MacLean picks. But I would agree Howson should feel some pride in this team.

exGMDM used to joke that once he was fired, he'd make the next GM after him look great because of all the talent he thought he was accumulating and would leave behind for the new guy (Howson) . He was clearly wrong.

Howson really did help stock the cupboard. The team may have not found its way while Howson was here...but started winning just after he left with the talent he accumulated. He did make some glorious mistakes in hiring Arniel and trading for Carter, but it sounded like Priest also was pushing some agendas in those two incidents.

I'm not saying that I disagree with the change at the helm, as these changes are sometime necessary if players aren't responding, but other than trading for Gaborik (which has yet to pan out) and signing an eager Horton, Jarmo's job hasn't been too difficult. I actually kind of hope Jarmo isn't too active in the trade deadline. If Gaborik's moved, that's fine. But it sounds like he wants to do something "major" and that makes me nervous. If he does, hope it's mainly just us giving up a draft pick or two and no roster players or high end prospects.
