Cam has 17 goals with 27 games to play. So he is on a pace to score 25+. Yes, he has bad nights. But I don't understand the yapping against him.

It's because we're trying to showcase him as a piece for a Girardi deal. :sarcasm:

I don't either. Probably because he's not the 'grab the game by the horns and control it' type of player. Johansen is, and I think he has (unfairly) se the bar to that standard for some of our young scoring players.

Missed the game but it sounds like it was a big win for the boys. It appears to be the exact opposite of the Buffalo game.

We'll take it.

Can someone take the Chili chant and throw it in a tire fire?

There is no better way to take energy away from a goal than the ****ing Chili Chant.

I completely agree, I have hated that since the first time they played it. It's minor league garbage and saps the energy from the building. Something the Chill would have done on a Friday night, not for years and years...it's bush league.

Agree. We get the best scoreboard in the league and they're playing pong.

No noise meter. Not even a contrived one.

Fact: Scoreboard noise meters are the best way to get noise in an arena.

I want Rock n Roll Part 2 back, I don't care what Gary Glitter did, it gets the crowd excited.

I think it doesn't need to be a bad message, if the message is that the team is playing so well together and Gaborik just doesn't fit the identity. I think the team would be fine without Gaborik.

They've been fine without him all season, the games he's been healthy, he floated most of the time, threw in some goals against crap teams. They have already moved on from him. Get a 1st for him and move on. Doesn't fit our style, chemistry wasn't there with anyone he played with.

We traded for him specifically to add to a playoff run. We miss it by a half a game and now it's "thanks for the memories" and grab a pick or a prospect?

You don't trade a .75 point per game playoff battle tested veteran before the playoffs.

In his last 41 playoff games he's got 9 goals, not exactly a "battle tested veteren" in the playoffs. He has 8 goals in 30 games with the Jackets, he isn't the player he was, not sure why everyone builds him up to be this super sniper.

The way Calvert has been playing the last few games I'd scratch him and throw gabby in his place once he gets healthy after Olympic break if Matty keeps this play up.

Yeah, I think that is the spot where you put Gaborik. I wouldn't scratch Calvert though I would just move him down in the lineup.

Jenner-Johansen-Horton
Gaborik-Dubinsky-Atkinson
Foligno-Anisimov-Umberger
Calvert-Mackenzie-Letestu

There were 16,762 in the building; it was one of the Jackets larger crowds of the season.

It was good crowd. The upper bowl was packed. I just noticed a lot of lower bowl seats available on TM in the early afternoon. They also had a good walk-up crowd. We entered on East side of arena (closest to Buca) at about 6:45. There are two box offices there and each had a line of 10-14 to buy tickets. I almost never see a line to buy tickets at those box offices.

They have also been fine without Boll all season. Oh sure he threw an occasional hit or fought during meaningless game, but there's no place for him in our lineup. With the balanced scoring from four lines, it looks like they've moved on without him.

I think that's what I would start with as well. I think you have 4 pairings that should stay together with 4 moving pieces to fit in.

Johansen-Horton
Dubi-Atkinson
Anismov-RJ
Mackenzie-Letetsu

With Boone, Gaby, Foligno and Calvert being that piece that you can move to shake the lines up.

I can't agree with this more. I have hated this chant ever since the playoff year. Why can't they do it after the emotion of the goal? Something like, "hey fans that goal gets everyone free chili." And then play on the Casio keyboard and do the chant in the first TV timeout after the goal. Definitely the worst game day "tradition".

As for the game, I got to take my 4 year old to the tunnel of pride last night. That was pretty cool and damn are those guys huge. I thought that we played a pretty lousy game actually. Florida controlled much of the play in the second and third. I agree with Richards post game comments that we were opportunistic. When the Panthers made a mistake, we pounced.

I really like the Jenner-Johansen-Horton line. I still think we need a finishing left wing on that line, but that is not a slight to Jenner. They were our best line last night. Also, I watched Savard fairly closely last night and I really think he could be traded and we wouldn't miss a beat.

Good luck on the West Coast, get a couple of wins and excitement in this town will grow exponentially.

Probably would have been a sell out if it had been a play-off or well-known team the Jackets were playing.

As for the chili chant, I'm ambivalent about it. However, to say that it sucks the energy out of the arena is BS in my opinion. Fans are always cheering during and after it.

Fortunate to get the two points. Getting leads and letting off the gas is the most concerning problem for the team. It is as much making mental mistakes as it is physically being tired.

The D had a tough time with the Panther's forecheck last night, creating many turnovers. Panthers did to us what the Jackets do to a lot of teams when they are playing to their system. Some work needs to be done in that aspect.

He's a good player who just had an off game tonight. It happens. Not every player is amazing every night. We're allowed to make observations.

Well...the Sanduskian acts by Mr. Glitter were a bit much.

Crowd chant by Joe Satriani is an awesome song though. Bring it back.

Well, I thought we were quite lucky to win last night. Only 2 of our goals were quality. The first was a flub by Thomas, but I will give Boone credit for being in the right place at the right time. The third goal was also a lucky break.

Florida dominated us at times, and the Jackets looked dazed and confused. When we did set-up in their zone too many times we allowed odd-man rushes the other way at Bob. I lost track there were so many.

I guess you can say good teams find ways to win, but if we play like that on the west coast hang on to your ass. If I am Todd Richards I am not happy with last night. 11-17-13 were not good, so maybe they pick it up a notch for the next little while.

Good crowd last night. There seemed to be a lot going on over at the Convention Center, so maybe a lot of people in town for those things decided to take in an NHL game.

I want to see Anisimov and Dubinsky swap lines. Have Arty center Cam and Calvert and have Dubi center Umby and Foligno just to see if it works.

The sad part about attendance is that we only have 1 more saturday home game for the rest of the season. I hope that should be a sellout because there is a chance to build hype coming out of the olympic break and not having a home game for 4 weeks.

There are 3 Friday games and 1 Sunday game though. Hopefully those games pull in sell out crowds too for the push to the end of the season.
