Yeah, I think that is the spot where you put Gaborik. I wouldn't scratch Calvert though I would just move him down in the lineup.

Jenner-Johansen-Horton
Gaborik-Dubinsky-Atkinson
Foligno-Anisimov-Umberger
Calvert-Mackenzie-Letestu
Comeau

You cut Tropp, and you left Foligno-Anisimov-Umberger together, which is not a good line IMO.

Fixed! :sarcasm:

Lmao. Umby....The most hated OSU alum in the history of Cbus. And he's having a great year...albeit by his mediocre standards.

They have also been fine without Boll all season. Oh sure he threw an occasional hit or fought during meaningless game, but there's no place for him in our lineup. With the balanced scoring from four lines, it looks like they've moved on without him.

Fair point, and if he was making 7 million dollars a season, I would agree!

Probably would have been a sell out if it had been a play-off or well-known team the Jackets were playing.

As for the chili chant, I'm ambivalent about it. However, to say that it sucks the energy out of the arena is BS in my opinion. Fans are always cheering during and after it.

Not really, everyone is up cheering, clapping, yelling for the goal and the oh oh oh's, which I actually don't mind-it's catchy in it's own way. And then comes the chili chant....."ok everyone, be quiet, stop clapping and cheering, we don't want to miss our que.....da da da da da da dant, (here comes the cheer) CHILLI!...now quiet, quiet everyone, da da da da da da dant, ready? CHILLI!" "Kids, that means we get a FREE chilli on the way home, a 50 cent value!!!"

I absolutely hate it and always have and always will....you would never hear that in Toronto, Detroit, etc. If we want to be the silly little expansion team still, then by all means, stand and announce your excitement for free chilli...to the tune of the Mexican Hat Dance for Christ sakes...

Well...the Sanduskian acts by Mr. Glitter were a bit much.

Crowd chant by Joe Satriani is an awesome song though. Bring it back.

Agreed, he was garbage, however, if you eliminate every song by someone that did something bad, then they would be playing Sesame Street songs all night(actually that might be an upgrade from the usual in-game music, haha)

I don't know about those places, specifically, nor do I know about the chanting, but isn't an advertising tie-in linked to a certain number of home team goals a fairly common corporate promotion?

Jackets are 4rth in the Conference in goals differential (+9) and 10th overall in that category.

In their playoff year of 2008-09, the Jackets were 18th (-4) in goals diff.

Sure for the Toledo Walleye maybe...that's fine to have that promotion, the idea is to get idiots to come trade their stub for chilli and buy $10 worth of other garbage. But the chant is stupid. They could simply say on the next stoppage "you know what that means, free chilli!" and all the Grove City fans can cheer. To interupt the goal song for the Mexican Hat Dance is ridiculous 14 years into the franchise. Year one? sure, not now. What makes me even more livid is when we are losing, say 6-3, and the idiots still get excited for chilli.

Or we score an OT goal to win 3-2 and it's chili chant time. Maddening.

I'm not in favor of it, either, just wondered how common it is.

So, basically, unless everybody's screaming at the top of their lungs constantly, it's "unenergetic".

If that particular three-goal celebration had nothing whatsoever to do with chili, would you still hate it? My suspicion is that you will answer "yes" but it will actually be "no". :)

EDIT: And for the record, I'm ambivalent about it myself. What I'm thinking about is how folks kept screaming for years about how we had to dump Machinehead because it was a reminder of a "losing culture", and yet nowadays so many pine for the days when Machinehead played, still associate it with Jackets hockey, and want to bring it back.

Also, **** any and all suggestions of R&Rp2. I would ****ing BOO if that crap played.

I think the entire arena should break out into the chicken dance after three goals. It can't be any more ridiculous. And think of how much fun it would be for the kids!

I don't have any issue with the Chili Chant. I think whatever engages the crowd into a collective action in the game is a good thing.

My minor league team offers a free burrito ($7 retail value and 30 days to use ticket) when the Cyclones score 5 and win. A lot of people get into it once the team has scored 4. It's pretty funny at times watching people go crazy for their burritos.

Most anything that helps to attract the marginal fan for a team which has plenty of seats to sell is a good thing, imo.

But do they interrupt the goal song to celebrate said free frosty or whatever? I have no issue with the promotion itself, even if they wanted to do the dumb chilli chant during a TV timeout later after the goal, I could tolerate it. They used to not kick back into the goal song after the chilli chant for those of you that have been around awhile. Only recently did they acknowledge the dead air after that song and started kicking back into the oh oh's.
