Look at his first offseason.

He ran off one of our most skilled players and then added four big, fat nothing burgers: McKegg, Hunt, Reaves and Blais. Four guys who basically add almost nothing to the offense. For a team with an elite goalie and a stable full of defenders. He doesn’t want to add guys who can score.

I gave Drury a bit of credit, to be fair, because I do think we needed better role players. And Drury got some NHL players to do that (I like Hunt and Blais, and Reaves is ok) whereas Gorton couldn't bring in a bottom-six pro hockey player if his life depended on it.

But yes, he definitely overdid it, and misidentified what's wrong as this team has been doing since like 1995.

I highly doubt there is any significance to a difference in play when playing a bunch of games in a row and when playing sporadically but you’re welcome to do the research around the league and seeing how production changes and if georgiev happens to be worse than others that way. But you’re taking a small sample and making it smaller so you probably won’t get meaningful results anyway.

We can very very simplistically look here. 24 career games on 1 day rest. .911. 74 games with 3+. .913

It's really not all about save %. The guy gives up backbreaking goals at the worst times. And his stats were below 0.900 before that stretch when Igor went down. I don't care what he did his rookie year.

Someone tell Joe if they are out of gas already don’t look at the schedule where they play basically every other day the rest of the way.

They had 7 games in February.

Drury was also a part of a Stanley cup team. He knows exactly what players are going to be required to win. I trust him more than Gorton. Whole did nothing well with this rebuild.

I’m not sure he does know. We need skill and he has ignored that aspect and seems inclined to continue to do so.
