Look at his first offseason.
He ran off one of our most skilled players and then added four big, fat nothing burgers: McKegg, Hunt, Reaves and Blais. Four guys who basically add almost nothing to the offense. For a team with an elite goalie and a stable full of defenders. He doesn’t want to add guys who can score.
I gave Drury a bit of credit, to be fair, because I do think we needed better role players. And Drury got some NHL players to do that (I like Hunt and Blais, and Reaves is ok) whereas Gorton couldn't bring in a bottom-six pro hockey player if his life depended on it.
But yes, he definitely overdid it, and misidentified what's wrong as this team has been doing since like 1995.
