Completely out of context or you didn't understand what I wrote. Shesterkin is 25-6-3 and Georgiev is 7-8-2. That's a 10 game difference. No goalie in the history of the NHL has been 10 games better than the average goalie, because the average goalie is still good. Georgiev has his stat line compared to Shesterkin because he's just woefully below average, like arguably worst in the league.

Georgiev is close to average or slightly below. Shesterkin is way above average. Georgiev is having a bad year. He has a .910 save percentage in his career. Typically league average is around .909. Last year he was .905. That's probably typical for a backup because obviously the average of backups should be lower than the average of starters. I don't feel like looking into all the numbers now.

This is their 3rd game in 4 days and B2B with travel. They look tired. I counter their game has actually been very good lately. They just beat Florida, Boston, and Washington, and played well last night against Pitt. Even with this eventual loss they are 5-2-1 in their last 8. I see none of this plummeting you talk about. Pitt just lost 3 in a row including 6-1 to Devils the other night before winning back to back games. Shit happens.

Washington is a shell of themselves. Boston was missing some of their best players. And Florida we won by the skin of our teeth. This team is playing like a wildcard team.

If Subban wasn’t such a scumbag Blais would be out there now giving much needed secondary bottom 6 scoring and we wouldn’t be complaining about the likes of McKegg. DeAngelo was gone regardless of his fight with Georgiev. Once Fox proved he could play in this league at a high level Tony’s days were numbered here, especially with Lundkvist and Schneider on their way as well. Would it be nice to have Buch right now? No shit. But again he’s another one who was a cap casualty unfortunately. If Laf and Kakko both broke out this year people would be saying Buch who?

That said, I would have liked something else in return. I like Blais, but we didn't need more of that element if we were already bringing in Goodrow, Hunt, and Reaves.

The Rangers convinced themselves that they looked bad in tight games because they didn't have enough hitting.

In reality (and I said this but they don't answer my emails) they looked bad in tight games because Christopher James Kreider is the only forward in the New York Rangers organization who drives play anywhere besides up my ass or off a cliff.

DISCLAIMER: getting a better piece back for Buchnevich would have been a drop in the bucket towards fixing this. It won't get fixed because they don't think it's an issue.

If Georgiev is close to average then the state of NHL goaltending is horrendous. He was awful last year too. Maybe he just sucks. I don't care that he made 50 saves against Toronto that one time.

The league average save percentage last year was .908. Georgiev had a .905. Slightly below average. He's the backup. That's probably right in line with the average for backups which logically must be lower than .908 since if it were higher than the backups perform better than starters.

The year before it was .910. Georgiev had a .910.

The year before that .910. He was .914.

This year he's performed worse. But having performed bad is not the same thing as is bad.

He's basically exactly what I would expect from a backup. How can you have an above average goalie as backup for cheap without lucking into a young guy on an ELC? If someone was that good they'd be a starter elsewhere. They might perform well because there is a lot of variance in goaltending but that doesn't mean they actually are good.

I am more frustrated at this team this year than last year even though we have a wayyy better record. This offense is putrid. What's the point of watching this crap? The product, right now, stinks. GG is not it.

Been saying that a while. This is a boring, uninspiring team. They aren’t really scrappy or exciting. They aren’t good at defense. They aren’t good at offense.

They go through the motions and get good goaltending and they out talent people on the PP. it’s not a complete team at all. Lots more building of talent to do.

They never finished the rebuild at forward and most of the kids on defense aren’t ready yet. The fan base is being fooled by some career highlight play by guys like Panarin and Kreider plus the early arrivals of Fox and Shesty. The rest of the roster is still kinda garbage.

Disagree. They get Kakko back and a guy like Lehkonen and they can definitely beat them in a series. No question. Actually the only team they can't beat in the east is Carolina. They are going to be buyers and that is not a bad thing.

You think Pittsburgh isn't going to make a move? Lehkonen isnt a goal scoring difference maker, neither is Kakko yet.

Pitt are better, probably better coached and their goalie matches up against our offense better than ours do against there's even though we have a better goalie ( not by that much though). Pitt will only need 2 goals to win against us in the playoffs each game unless 1. We somehow use a time machine and ice our 2024 team or 2. We drastically change the team.
