Post-Game Talk: GAME 52 - THE BEAR goes over Niagara Falls - Sabres 7 BRUINS 2

Charlie Coyle and Elias Lindholm are nothing more than 4th line center ice men. We have no speed through the Neutral zone and what the hell does Johnny Beecher bring . He can’t take a pass or give a pass and runs around like a chicken with its head cut off

Trade EL at the deadline back to Calgary for a 5th round pick

We got him for free get him gone
And send a message to every free agent in the league that Boston isn't a good place to sign a long term contract. Yes Lindholm has very much underwhelmed thus far but the entire team as a whole is underperfoming, not just #28.

I want to see this team with there 1A and 1B in the line up before joining the sell bandwagon. Will be interesting if they play tomorrow night. I suspect some guys will be shuffled between Prov and Boston.
We did at the beginning of the season and they kind of sucked ,the forth line kept them respectable but that was about it.

I'd say the only teams that are out are PIT & BUF. Of the teams in that WC/A3 spot the each rank the following in remaining strength of schedule (1 being hardest and 32 being easiest)

DET - 1st
NYI - 2nd
NYR - 5th
CBJ - 8th
PHI - 9th
BOS - 16th
TBL - 20th
OTT - 24th
MTL - 30th

I think you see OTT & TBL battle it out for the final A3 spot. That leaves the WC2 spot open. DET, NYI, NYR CBJ & PHI all have tough schedules. The NYR have the talent to go on a run at any moment and the NYI have been really good over their last 10 games. Montreal has had it moments and with a easier scheduled, they could surge up the rankings.

My fear is this team will be able to hang on just enough to where Sweeney buys a few piece to go for a WC spot.

Zadorov, Elias Lindholm and Swayman signings have condemned this team to playoff bubble purgatory for the next decade.

Add to that the fact that we have zero prospects coming up through the system.

This is gonna be miserable.
Elias lindholm has to be Sweeney worst signing ever, to date. Backes was pretty much toast, but at least showed up and gave his all, as did Belesky, but this guy here, I mean where is he ? You dont even notice him most nights, and to think Sweeney had been trying acquire him for the the last 2 years.

There was a strange vibe tonight with close to 4,000 empty seats and thousands of Bruins fans who crossed the bridge.

Yes the Bruins were shorthanded but still .............. Their record against nonplayoff teams will doom them.

Wednesday, January 29 (Warrior Ice Arena | Brighton, MA)
  • Practice, 11:30 a.m.
  • Interim Head Coach Joe Sacco and select players available to media as early as 11:30 a.m.
4000, empty seats, and your opponent is filling the other seats, ..............do you still want a rebuild.

That was the 13th time in just 52 games this season that the Bruins have lost by three goals or more. One in every four games, they not only lose - but they get shit-kicked from one end of the rink to the other.

And some people think they’re one player away? Call up Lysell! Not gonna do any good. Trade for Miller… won’t matter!

They need to decide NOW who’s gonna stay - and jettison the remainder for whatever they can get. We’re past the evaluation point. Evaluation over. Grade: F

It sucks. We’re fortunate that we don’t have to experience it often. But right now? It’s where we’re at.
Not sharing anything you don't know. They've traded draft picks for years. The ones they kept largely haven't landed at all. So then you need to go to the UFA market and overpay, because you don't have picks or prospects to trade for a viable NHL player. Lindholm is awful.

Yes, it was one game but this team is cooked, There is something going on in the room for sure.

Trade Coyle and Carlo for assets. See if Marchand will move in his UFA year. He'll likely get a high pick in return.

Play the young kids and stockpile draft picks and start to rebuild. There's no amount of makeup or beer googles that is going to make this team worth having in your home. The party is over IMO.

The team's needs badly outweigh what they have right now. This is not a patchwork quilt Donny it is well beyond.

At the very minimum we need two true gifted goal scoring players. JT Miller or Petteressen are not enough. McAvoy and Hamphus Lindholm will not solve our goal scoring ineptness.

Do the right f***en thing and  SELL to try to instill some young blood with talent for the future.

Where is he? Has anyone heard from him ? He's pulling is best Elias Lindholm act. He's been no-where to be seen or heard?
I continue to not get this. GMs aren't just giving interviews and press conferences all the time without anything happening. What do you want him to do, go on a podcast or something?

swayman and Lindholm signings will keep this team bad for a good while.
Hopefully they can trade either one, or both of these guys at the deadline.
I like Marchand, so hoping he stays- but coyle, lindholm, swayman, carlo hopefully all gone at the deadline.
plenty of good goalies out there not breaking 8.5mil

Play the god damn kids
ummm the kids aren't good.

Well that was probably the worst effort I have seen this season. Defense is as soft as puppy poo until the game is well out of hand then Zadorov acts tough and checks a tiny player on an icing. Pathetic. This team should be scrapped and a new GM brought in to rebuild. There is ZERO chance this team makes any sort of run even if they barely get in the playoffs. Sad part is the prospect pool is just as bad as the current players on the roster.

The deal for Elias Lindholm is about as bad as the Detroit Tigers Javier Baez contract with very little results. Only advantage is Tigers can still spend money and are not cash strapped.
I am resisting overreacting in the short term to the E Lindholm deal. But it's not like there weren't a lot of people warning about this. It's not looking good. I can only hope that when the team has a chance to improve the top 6, he ends up with a line that brings out the best in him. I'm not expecting that to ever quite rise to the level of his contract, but it shouldn't look this bad.

The bottom line is that one way or another they are going to have to find their #1 center for the future and not somebody who is 29, 30 or older. That's going to be very hard but it is clearly at the top of the list of problems they need to solve. It may take 2, 3, 4 years to even find that player. Pettersson is the only option I am seeing out there that fits my bill (right age, right ceiling) but he would be very tough to obtain since Vancouver wants to remain a playoff contender after the trade. And I do have some concerns about his makeup. Maybe there is somebody else who could be had but I don't think we're hearing about him yet. I'm not considering JT Miller as the answer because of age, though he could help the B's for a few years. I really want that 8+ year guy. Imagine Pastrnak with a real dynamo at center.

The Professor and SeaBass are going to use the injuries as an excuse. Mr. Burns will buy it. They won't go for it nor will they rebuild. They'll just write off this season. It's unfortunate. Basically, Charlie and Hamphus saved their jobs.

Sigh. more years of treading water. WOOOT

I hate to admit it but I think you're right. Jacobs will give Sweeney & Neely one more crack at it & for the reason you stated. This means the Bruins will fall even further behind the competition which will make rebuilding/retooling/whatever you want to call it that much harder.

:(
