Robert, this game was solely on friggin Bob. Take away his three softies and the empty netter and we gave up one goal. We scored two. So, but for Bob's dead on impersonation of Marc Denis, we win this one just like we won the last one against Buffalo in a tight game between 2 excellent goalies that could have gone either way. There was nothing, nothing, about this game, other than Bob's horrific performance, that would have any effect beyond this game.

Is anyone else getting sick of these "spray tan" ads and how they are placed on this site so that even a casual pass near the ad flashes this incredibly ad stupid in your face?

Most winning streaks end up with a stinker. Time to start a new streak. Bob won't be bad next time out.

Did anyone expect the Jackets to win out the season? We knew a loss would come. I am in the camp of better giving two points to Buffalo than to a team in contention. Shake it off and move along. Being down a Dman didn't help things, and of course Bob was way off his game. Crap happens, one game, move along...

And as for anyone calling out coaching after this one game, well... :shakehead:shakehead:shakehead:shakehead:shakehead:shakehead

Same coaches were there for win streak....

We are going to win some. We are going to lose some. For God's sake don't gather up the neon tees and march on the plaza folks!!

Of course the streak was going to end. I was scared it was going to be this game going into it because it was Buffalo and easy to overlook.

However, I hoped that they would have gotten beat in a manner where they flat out just didn't give the game away. The coaches know this was on Bob or they wouldn't have pulled him.

Bob did his best Andy Dalton impression last night. When he is great, he is great but holy hell was he bad last night. I can deal with 1 softie but each goal he gave up was worse than the one before it.

Buffalo's D should get some credit for the amount of blocked shots but the CBJ dominated possession and should have won the game. Now the real test of character is how they play Monday on the road in a divisional game. This can't turn into losing 3 of 4 like what happened before this current streak.

Funny how we've all forgotten that Buffalo at this time of the season is reminiscent of the Blue Jackets teams of past years. We "upset" a lot of teams with an inferior roster when our goalie played well because we had no pressure - and those empty "spoiler" wins cost us draft position.

Good point, lee.

Bob was just off, last night. You could really see it on the second goal - he had a clear look, got his glove ready, and...

flat-out missed it!

He looked shocked! It was a total misjudgement on his part. Had he stopped it, would they have won? Who knows, but it certainly didn't help any! Seeing his face on the bench after being pulled, I'm sure he's as unhappy about it as we are. I don't do predictions, but I'll be very surprised if he doesn't look very motivated in Carolina, tomorrow.

I was watching Bob on the bench, too, Pete. He was pissed at himself, but stayed engaged and visibly cheered his backup on a good save a time or two, pounding the boards outside the bench with his glove in support. He's not only an elite, dedicated athlete, but appears from everything we've seen and heard, to be an outstanding teammate.

I agree, Derby. The Puckrakers recent Cannon Fire podcast talked a bit about him, comparing his reputation in Philly to how he's been here. They said he was reputed to be somewhat distant and aloof, before, but he is thought to be very warm and engaging now. No telling why, but it seems the situation here just suits him better and he appears to be very popular with his teammates.

Not only that, Lee, but when you suck and knock off a hot team, or a top team, the euphoria lasts for about 10 minutes, and then you realize that you still suck.

Sabres fans can have that at this time, I don't want to go back there. They will be good again some day, but until then they get the 10 minutes of joy, followed by the realization that they still aren't good.

I want to keep moving forward and keep getting better. We aren't there quite yet, but we are headed in the right direction.

Forget last night. **it happens. Let's get ready for Monday.

I think gaining better English skills has helped in that area. He's relatively fluent now. I think it's easy to appear aloof when you have little idea what's being said in conversations around you, eh? Lol, this team seems to have a great deal of affection for Bob.

Buffalo fans around me were ok this time. A bit more humble. They cheered their team in a way that reminded me of old CBJ days--realized they have a bad team but still cheering for their guys to pull one out.

Well, the level of macho offensiveness of recent ads is enough to go in that direction. Thanks for the link.

The "team" did not collapse. The Vezina winning goalie did. Other than Bob, Wiz and RyJo the rest of the team played well. We did not "collapse".

This.

I was there. I did not see a team quitting or reeling. After the third goal, I saw a team struggling to get back above the waterline the rest of the night, and a great goalie keeping them from doing so.

After about six minutes in the third, my wife asked if I wanted to beat the crowd and leave, and I considered it for a moment, but this group gave me an 8-game winning streak, and they deserved my attention for the whole game, regardless of how obvious the outcome was at that point.

With 30 seconds left, I stood and held eight fingers up while a team that had no hope of winning kept driving the net.

Thanks, boys.

Sentinel. This was us as well. We stayed all the way through the 3 stars announcement and I was happy to see DMAC come out. The team on the ice never quit. I would not quit on them.

Yes, why financially support something you enjoy and use almost daily. That's just silly. :sarcasm:

I spend a lot of time on here (too much, perhaps?) and get a great deal of pleasure and knowledge out of it. $1/month is not too much for me to pay for what I get.

Plus, I avoid the annoying ads!

These numbers are stupefying (thanks to The Cannon):

Columbus put 38 shots on goal, surrendering only 22 to the Sabres.

The Sabres blocked 30 Columbus shots, while the Blue Jackets put their bodies in front of just 6.

Buffalo missed the net 4 times, while the Blue Jackets missed 24 shots.

So, all told, Columbus fired the puck in anger a whopping 92 times, compared to 32 for the Sabres. It takes a lot of time in the opposing zone to fire that many shots...!

Of the 24 misses, JJ must have had 20. I swear he had his head down, was not looking at the net and was swatting that puck so hard there was practically no chance anything would go in.

Bobrovsky was horrible, Miller was sharp, and we lost. I won't bother picking anyone's game apart besides that. Some nights you just don't see the puck. I once saw Adam Wainright give up 8 runs in 4 ip.

That's about all I got.

Time to start another winning streak. :)
