Ditto the PP. The PK concerns me alot more. I know LOC and Calvert are key players on the PK but it shouldnt be this bad. Honestly what has it been the last 10 games? Seems they get scored on every night on the PK.
It really turned to shit when LOC got hurt, and in that last Minny series. Ever since then it seems like they give up 1 or more PPG per game.

I think Nemeth and Soda are actually making the PK worse, Nemeth especially. Say what you will about Graves’ clearing attempts—at least he’s getting to those loose pucks. Nemeth can’t, he’s too slow. Soda looks especially slow out there as well.

I think it might also be that Toews is either being used less on the kill because of the Girard injury or he’s just not as effective because he’s being overworked. He’s the biggest reason the PK looks better this year—he’s been amazing at securing and clearing the puck effectively.

It definitely feels like the PK has gotten worse with Nemeth on it. Thats all he's really asked to do and he has not been anywhere good enough. I also feel like when G comes back and if Bo comes back in time that Jared has to look long and hard at scratching Nemeth. Assuming of course that Timmins continues to play well. Nemeth hasnt done his job and Soda hasnt done much of anything either. The Avs have grown passed both those players in a hurry. To think both guys were so high up in the roster a few years ago lol.

Serious question, as you have a very good finger on the pulse of this team and organization… what is your opinion on the state of leadership for the Avs? Team? Organization? It is a serious question. And more generalized... why does this team struggle to dial up the volume over a 60 minute game?

Open to all….

"We want to secure Home-Ice"....

Blowing a 2 Goal-Lead in San Jose followed by a poor performance wont help on that matter.

Definitely deserverd this loss.

We better get our shit together.

I never mentioned anything about them not ever winning today. You brought that up. I merely said I didnt like the way they lost tonight having a 2 goal lead on San Jose with 21 minutes left in a game. Is that being negative or is that what happened? They are never going to win and they are going to get destroyed by the great Cam Talbot and the mighty Minnesota Wild. Probably in 3 games.

Correct. Never mentioned today.

One loss >> HFAvs meltdown.
Nothing new, happens every time. The Avs could go undefeated 30 games in a row then lose one and some would act like the team is in trouble.

These games are almost meaningless at the end of the day. Home ice won't mean that much without fans in the building, doesn't really matter much who we face in the 1st round either.

Ideally they stay healthy and get Girard, Saad and Byram back + get their game together at the right time. A series loss to the Wild or Blues would be a choke.

Only caught the 1st period but Newhook looked ok from what I saw

Still not convicned he's ready, but I at least like the fact Bednar isn't giving him the 4th line treatment. Tossing him right into the 2C spot and seeing how he does was a great move . Judging on the stat sheet and box score it does look like that 2nd line was probably one of the better lines for us.

A shot at the division title and home ice, up 2-0 on a bottom feeder and we lose 3-2. I don’t get too upset about a loss, but last night was a f***en joke.

Either way we won a game we should have lost the other night and we lost a game we should have won last night. 3 of 4 wins against any team in the league is pretty good and hard to get the sweep. No matter what their record is the sharks have some pretty descent players and with their new found goalie they should probably be fighting for a playoff spot if they had discovered him earlier.

This is where I'm at as well. Have the division lead on a platter and up 2-0 against a non-playoff team and they f*** it up. Toews and Makar especially pissed me off with their play last night. The top line as well with special emphasis on MacK. MacK was awful last night IMO. You can't win many games when the top dogs are the ones dogging it. This makes the Vegas game an absolute must win.

Yep! Shitty night. We won’t beat Vegas, lol. We’ll lose a game this weekend to the Kings and lose home ice. We shit the bed big time last night.

It's a mystery, something I've wondered about multiple years now. This team and it's makeup just can't seem to get over that hump and realize that the only way you win games at this level is by playing with effort.

Still way to frequently this team just doesn't bother to show up.

Couldn't tell you if it's leadership or coaching or what. But they like to show up coast around like it's the all star game and expect to win way too often.

Last night the game falls very much so on the leaders of this team. Meaning first line and Makar and Toews. It was a shit show by those guys. And quite frankly that's disappointing at this time of the year, that's when these guys need to step up, not hide with their tails tucked.

A pathetic lack of effort, especially at this point in the season after being up 2-0.

I'm glad to see that all of the winning this season hasn't stopped us from fighting bitterly with one another after a loss

Anyways, I'm starting to suspect that I am just not meant to watch Avs games when they happen this year...as I have yet to see an Avs win this season, and on days where I tried to double-dip with the Knicks & Avs, both teams ended up disappointing.

Tell me about it. I've had a tough go at most of the late starts and it seems that every game that I stick through to the end, they lose.

I would love to see Newhook next to Jost and Nuke they are such a good possession line lately so fun to watch. He would do better there IMO and would have more opportunities to shoot the puck. Kadri and Bura are shoot first guys and aren't the hardest working way from the puck but from the limited time I've seen Newhook on that line he was bringing energy and speed.

100% agree. On the wing too. It’s good that Bednar is letting him play his natural position but he doesn’t need that defensive responsibility yet. Plus it gets the old faithful Bura-Naz-Donskoi trio back together.
