Right now, it seems like every player on the team is a leader in some way.

Agreed. Razz guys who didn't try or demanded a trade. Mason didn't demand to be traded (openly). He tried to be a starting goalie here and it didn't work out, but at least he put forth effort.

Agreed on both points.

This team is a very special group of people. We just wore the Flyers down and they are a good team.

Tired too.... they ran out of gas in the third.. They got off the ice at 9 pm yesterday (traveled) and played at 7 pm tonight.... 22 hours...

Pretty exciting time in ohio right now. Happy to see these boys rolling. No Rick Nash, no problem. Although I will say, I have no idea how a franchise with such a terrible history was so easily able to snag Horton out of free agency.

Regardless, Im happy for Blue Jacket fans, And hope they can keep this up. Ohio deserves their first playoff win!:yo:

I must be the only one who doesn't really see 'we want mason' as derogatory towards him. I see it more of a mocking of Emery and the Flyers than anything else. If the kid's feelings are hurt or whatever, tough nuts. I wouldn't mind a shot at him either, after watching his slough through the last few years here. He only got into shape and worked extra hard when Bob was brought in. Too little, too late. I wish him well, but he doesn't get Jody Shelley status (always loved, appreciated) with me.

He reached out to Columbus. He knew CBJ's TV Play-by-play guy Jeff Rimer from days at Florida Panthers and touched base with Jeff to see if CBJ would be interested in his services.

The "he reached out to Columbus" is that part that many cannot understand. Of course, once Horton reached out, we took his hand.

Wow... that's interesting, I know Jeff has influence with the highest CBJ levels but did not know he was a part time assistant general manager...

I think the fans want him to play so they can boo him.... just as they boo Carter every time he plays here.. The thing is, Mason, as bad as he was, did not hate playing here.. The Jackets have had many crummy players, can't boo everyone.

Two things. Wisniewski has a 6 game point streak. He's worth the money.

Did George Matthews retire officially from the teams radio? Everyone is saying bye to him, I thought he was still going to call a few games here and there for the next few years?

Here is the truth as I actually spoke to him in Buffalo last weekend... (I have witness sources if required). I asked him about his time left in Columbus, he said he was calling 12 more CBJ games then retire from the CBJ... I asked about other venues and he said he was done for now, going home for a while... needs a break.

That's my take on it. I think it lacks class. Carter and Foote, thats different, but Mason's not living up to the expectations is hardly worthy of heckling, but I don't like chant/taunting goalies names at all. We don't ride Voracek or Vermette, both players that have taken their game to the next level since leaving Columbus....Malholtra and Glencross, two more examples.

That's correct, I was a #1 Mason critic but they want to boo him for simply taking the ice... Now, I can understand NHL crowds yelling "Miller"-"Miller" for example if we are beating him 5-0 but not what our fans want to do to Mason....

Mason was weak and a sprinkle became a flood too many times with softy goals, but it's not a like he tried to be bad. It's not like he was showing up the city. It just didn't work out and he's gone. Contrast that to Jeff Carter, who was a tool the way he pouted before he came here like this is Chernobyl or something, and then acted like a primadonna before he finally and mercifully was shipped to la la land. The one good thing Carter perhaps accomplished was hastening Howson's exit.

Of course, Voracek, Vermette, Malholtra and Glencross aren't healthy scratched when their teams return to Columbus. So the "We Want (insert those players name here)" chant doesn't really work.

Personally, I think it's nice to hear the CBJ crowd engaged. Other goalies get taunted with the "(GOALIE NAME).....(GOALIE NAME)....(GOALIE NAME)...YOU SUCK!" chant from many fan bases. Can't really be an issue with Mason anyway, he'lll likely have to deal with much worse from Philly fans down the road.
