Post-Game Talk: Game 5

Don’t forget guys, Gus thought it would be a better idea to “send a message” to Mikola after he love tapped Igor instead of letting the team go on a 5 on 3 for 1:20. Glad he came in 5 seconds late as the 3rd guy to knock him down.

Cost us a likely 2-0 lead, likey the game, and likely the series.

Great job Gus!! GREAT JOB

rangers aren’t built for playoff hockey

they barely scraped by carolina

it’s very hard to win 4 in a row against a really good team. rangers’ top players didn’t play well enough, period.
True, but they’ve gotten this far with what they have.
If there is a silver lining the pipeline is full of grinding big forwards.

I’d rather it be this than throroughly dominating and still finding a way to lose. at least the right team is winning

They just have another gear that we aren’t capable of. We’re trying, and we are hanging in there at times, but they are just better across the roster and make less mistakes.
Even when we do press, our inability to make simple plays comes back to bite us.
Too much being left to too few, and our big name/$$ guys aren’t getting it done.

Great to see Laf’s coming out party continue. I don’t understand how he isn’t seeing 20+ mins at this stage. We’re basically a one line team and he’s driving a lot of that.

In contrast KK’s stat-line (and play) is just sad. We needed so much more from him than what he is able to deliver.
Scoring depth is so important and those missed 1st rounders really hurt. 4 x top 10 forwards that we’ve drafted who could have been a factor in this series and for all that we’ve got 16 points, 14 from Laf.

It's not over until it’s over, but it looks bloody grim.
IMO this team has overachieved this season, but it’s not a nice way to end things

We are just totally outmatched. Core is just too soft. It’s unfortunate but it’s the truth. 6 more years of Mika at $8.5 is brutal.

He is too tough physical skilled and a good hockey player. Rangers rather trade for the finesse softee that disappears in the playoffs or the big man that pushed by someone half his size.
I'm hoping somehow Drury can change that. Guys like Berard and Othmann and less guys like Zibanejad.

I know they had a shitty third period but the idea that you can't blame the huge elephant in the room for losing this game is preposterous. I'm really tired of our goalie giving up goals on nothing shots that go through him. Really tired of it. And no him being great the rest of the game doesn't absolve him. It just means he CAN make those saves but like clockwork doesn't. And no we weren't good in the third but it wasn't some ridiculous domination like last game. This wouldn't have even been a steal if we won it.

Maybe for one f***ing game the guys on the team can play their hearts out for the goalie that's giving his all to keep the team in it while the team is outshot in the series by a near 50 shots.

Igor is amazing but he has not yet had a game this series where he straight up says you are not beating me tonight.

Bobrovsky did.

The Panthers outside the goal crease are a slightly better team than the Rangers, but this one's on Igor. We're still waiting for a masterpiece performance and he just hasn't been able to do it. This Panthers team isn't exactly the dynasty Oilers; they're offense is very stoppable.

That being said, if you look back that Wennberg broken stick on the dump in started the entire sequence where Florida scored their 2nd goal. An awful break (no pun intended). This game had marathon OT written all over it
When was this?

This is a soft team. Period full stop. You need guys that will give everything they have to win a Cup. You can’t finesse your way there. We have too much finesse. Adding Roslovic and Wennberg just added to the finesse. No grit, no toughness. No grind. You have to have some finesse and a whole lotta heart and grind to get there and win it. We added two useless soft players at the deadline. And then Mika just has lost anything that used to make him what he was. You can see it in their eyes, a complete lack of fight and desire from a lot of them. Laffy has it. To has it. Fox is doing his best even injured. Igor has it. Hell even Goodie has it.
Cuylle will have it, hopefully soon. I have hopes for him as he gets more experience and how to handle this level of game. These playoffs are great learning for him.
