Maybe float a rumor that Kopi is going to be traded.Might wake up his goal drought and start earning his 14 million dollar pay.

that was rough... looking like it's time for a coaching shake up or a few major roster moves. that team is complacent in their system and roles. it's like they are scared or incapable to make plays before starting a dump and chase cycle. it's like having a buick continental at the long beach grand prix winning by taking up half the course causing anyone who tries to pass to crash or take their shot in OT.

Does Dean go down with the ship this season with this roster?Or does he try to upgrade it?

If this team fails to qualify for the playoffs, something has to change.

2015: miss playoffs
2016: eliminated in the 1st round in 5 games
2017: ???

I'm not convinced that this is a playoff team nor do I think they will do much damage should they somehow manage to sneak in.

They're an average hockey club that has been propped up by the production of Jeff Carter, OT wins, and Budaj's unexpected play.

I can't see how any single addition could suddenly make this team better on the PP, better shooters, better passers, etc. This isn't anything like 2012 or 2014 where they could use a boost. This is a team that has more problems than any Kings team I've watched since 2007.

Another home loss to SJ. Another game at home game where Burns out produces Doughty. Another game at home game where Burns and Pavelski score. Another 3rd line center level effort from the highest paid player in the league. 12-19 for the year in regulation. 7-8 at home in regulation. Tied with Vancouver in the standings. Ho hum.

Kings are just 2 points out of 25th place in the league. A good run of bad luck could get us there!

Trade Muzzin for EJ (broken leg) should do it. :naughty:

Burns is a stud.

And Doughty is a dud. Everything Burns shot at the net made it through or was on target so a teammate could do something with it. Doughty missed on every shot he took tonight [or had it blocked], including a wide open shot on the pp that Burns would've blown through the back of the net!

Removing Sutter would be a good start. This team need a new voice, and I'm not talking about Stevens.

So as a counterbalance to the 'going to overtime is cheap' crowd, the Kings have literally not scored a goal when pulling the goalie late in the game this season.

What an abysmal homestand .

3-4-0. with only one win in regulation.

Then they have the next five games on the road against NYI, NYR, NJD, CAR, ARI, return to LA for one home game against COL, then back on the road against PHI, WSH, TBL and FLA.

This streaky team hasn't put together a lengthy winning streak since November. Since then, their longest winning streak has been two games.

So, anyone looking forward to the All-Star game on the 29th?

It's ok. It's a development year. We're waiting on guys like Forbort/Gravel to get better, Kempe/Amadio/LaDue and maybe that Brodz guy to make the team. The team is playing quite well considering the circumstances. Maybe they make the playoffs! Maybe they get a good draft pick! Just enjoy the Kings Hockey!

Can someone get Quick's face on some "Missing" posters.

Kind of expected given how long it takes them to pull it. 1 min left to go simply isn't going to get it done.

It's become an inefficient roster. Now Pearson is having a decent season, so he'll get something. Toffoli has 4 goals at 5v5 this year, and he'll get at least $5m. Doughty looks pedestrian next to Burns. Brown, Gaborik, and Kopitar all got paid big after winning. Budaj basically has the same numbers as Quick last year, but one guy makes the league minimum, and the other guy makes $6m. It's 45 games into the season, and Lewis and King are still 3rd and 4th on the team in 5v5 goals.

2012-2014:
The veterans weren't that expensive, and the young guys were Kopitar and Doughty. Muzzin and Martinez had caps hits of just $1m each. Brown was still at $3m in 2014. Kopitar was $3m cheaper. That's $6m extra between those two, which was what Williams and Mitchell made combined. Every dollar counts.

2015-present:
The young guys are now the veterans, and they got expensive quickly, and there's no Kopitar or Doughty in the stable.

So did Toffoli have a leg amputated? I thought he was supposed to be back by now.

Kopi, played as well as he did Monday, same number of shots and assists. 14 Million this year huh?

Tanner Pearson after Carter is our best player, hopefully we can get him signed

3-6 weeks. Toffoli is in week 4.

They're 12-19 in regulation, and Lewis and King are 3rd and 4th on the team in 5v5 goals. Ahead of Kopitar, Toffoli, and Gaborik.

They have 10 wins in OT or the SO. That's great. Chicago has 9, but they're not 12-19 in regulation. The other teams that have 8 or 9 wins after regulation? Philly, Florida, NJ, Detroit, Vancouver, and Edmonton. Most of those teams aren't all that good, and the Oilers are 9 points ahead of the Kings, and that's with 2 fewer wins after regulation.

You're not a good team if you're relying on OT points to make the playoffs. Sure, they won in 5v5 OT in the playoffs last year, but they also went 0-4 in regulation, including 3 home losses. Not to mention the last game of the year against the Jets, blowing a 3-0 lead at home, with Quick, and then not winning in OT or the SO. They lost a must win game against the Oilers in the last week of the 14-15 season.

When you're 12-19 in regulation, winning in OT is cheap. Especially when you're the CF% champions. Where has the 9-1 OT record gotten them? They're tied with Vancouver.
