As a fan I loved that, but you have to admit Stan broke "the code" on that one. Shot to the head when the guy was down on the ice, that was nasty old time hockey.

Back to today, still hate the habs, always will, just beat them. Beat them bad.

There was no code back then. The code started in the 80's when designated goons started showing up.

Beecher surpassed by Boqvist is certainly something. Not in a bottom six role, not one bit. Boqvist adds nothing to a bottom six. They must see him as a Heinen to play throughout the line up but the bottom six needs speed and size... Beecher types in fact.

No team is claiming Boqvist on waivers either and if so, the Bruins move on. Too much fixation on waiver status at times.

Oh that's true, and really I think the "code" is bs as it's been broken often but I also do remember Don Cherry talking about "the code' and how it was there when he played so it's sort of been around forever (and broken).

They kept Boqvist over Beecher?

Good luck with our faceoffs. Good grief.
Agreed about the faceoffs, but Boquvist, who is much more of a winger, has been pretty good. Despite not really being a center, he has been better than Beecher. Speed like that of Boquvist does not grow on trees either.

I like Beecher but Boquist is faster and has given them more of an offensive threat in the bottom six. Beecher has to use his body and when he doesn't he's pretty ineffective. Same for Lauko.

I'd like to see them find a Lucic replacement and then put back that Beecher Lauko ? line as more of a hit them first line but for the moment, since he is waiver exempt, this makes sense. Wake up call for Beecher too that he has to give 100% every night.

Chicago has a ton of unjuries and trades are looming. I could see Boquist getting snapped up. Same for Wotherspoon if he was waived (which he shouldn't be).

I remember Sinden saying once "Stan didn't really get started until he got you down on the ice. Then you were more at his level."

I agree that 71 is not well suited to the bottom six because he is nowhere near strong enough. However, you hit it on the head with the Heinen utility player comparison. I think they see him as a top six filler player who can play further down the lineup. His excellent speed and adequate hands have been useful lately. Maybe management has found his niche.

Btw, I am not sure what to make of tonight. On the one hand, I know we are better and usually handle these guys at home. We have Pasta, and they have some good, small second liners, like Caufield and Suzuki etc. We are a little deeper. a lot bigger up front, and a little better overall.

Still, experience and my gut are bugging me. They are telling me it might be time for a real stinker in this trap game where they look past the Habs and forward to a very tough homestand. I still think we win.

I do not like seeing Forbort and Carlo back in, because it slows us down and makes us easier to attack. But we knew it would happen, and we could us Carlo's size.
