Larry Murphy wasn't a hall of fame when he was playing for the Leafs. He played like sh** like everyone else did
He was old and fragile at that point

He got lucky he got traded to the right team that had Lindstorm and he was their 5th D
I can remember when the fans would make chicken cluck noises when he had the puck, lol.
I also liked the waffles many years later. Very creative!

This is a whole other team without Matthews.

The leafs are making the playoffs no matter what and I don't care who they play. I think they should give Matthews like 2 weeks off and just let whatever the hell this is heal.

The good news is, it'll be hard to have a more disappointing period the rest of the game.

Do this keefe:

Robertson - Tavares - Galchenyuk
Hyman - Kerfoot - Marner
Mikheyev - Engvall - Spezza
Thornton - Brooks - Simmonds

They didn't actually. Campbell made two 10 bell saves on the first two shots that easily could have put them down 2-0 early. They're extremely lucky to come out of this dogshit period down only 3-1. They were outplayed top to bottom, inside and out.
You thought they should've scored 5 goals on the first 7 shots?? No...

Rittich is pretty good at times. We have a chance to tie this thing in the second period. Jets are not elite defensively , we will get the chances . Just gonna need one big save from Rittich and obviously finish the chances off.

It's all a mindset. Management thinks that offense is most important. I am certainly not in agreement. We keep loading up our firepower but can't stop the other team. We are way too soft in our own end, both the blueliners and in goal. This could go bad quickly if Campbell's big start was an aberration.

It’s funny when said “reality checks” come when the circumstances are being ignored too.

9-1-1 in their last 11 games and they’re missing their best player and an elite transition player... along with their deadline acquisitions sans Rittich. They need to fix their special teams before the playoffs, but these “reality checks” aren’t needed.
you can’t use 9-1-1 as a reality check when reality shows we are 10-9-2 since March 1st. We’re very streaky. Not necessarily great or horrible

Though both Matthews and Nylander are dominant possession players who also excel at zone exits and entries.

With them in the lineup the Leafs would control the puck more and by extension give the opposition less opportunities to capitalize on

No excuse to regress into an AHL team without them though lol.

Gather round boys and girls and listen to uncle Teeder now
I remember wayyyyyyy back in the 70s and 80s when teams would bring up the best players or 2 or even complete lines that were playing their best in the minors and would insert them right away into their proper talented spots , allowing them to excel
You would never bring a top smoothie playing well and put them on your 4th , that’s why the energy tough guys would be brought up to fill those roles

Their main tdl aquistion is a physical defensive minded forward though. They didn't get Folingo for his sniping abilities...
