It’s funny when said “reality checks” come when the circumstances are being ignored too.

9-1-1 in their last 11 games and they’re missing their best player and an elite transition player... along with their deadline acquisitions sans Rittich. They need to fix their special teams before the playoffs, but these “reality checks” aren’t needed.

A week from now this team should have Matthews, Nylander and Foligno in this lineup and three currently on the ice, won't be in the lineup.

I'm not worried yet. Let's get the playoffs going and remain healthy.

Also, Rielly is the best penalty killer by far for the opposition. He’s so f***ing slow, he wasted like a good 15 seconds on that 5-on-3 just floating through the neutral zone and making a lazy garbage drop pass in the end to Marner. The whole PP is trash but man, I can’t stand Rielly’s stupidity/laziness lately.

PP is so frustrating to watch... But yea, the contract was definitely the main issue. And we were all hoping for a hometown discount from our good ol' boy from Mimico.

The two guys doing jack shit is the actual problem that doesn't get talked about enough. Rielly hasn't been good don't get me wrong but our powerplay is essentially Rielly, Marner and Matthews against the 4 penalty killers and then we are shocked when it doesn't work.

The local media would never bag on Thornton or Simmonds or Spezza or any the "local boys come home" ... especially for minimum wage or close to it. Spezza has earned his stripes to be on the PP tho, the other guys haven't
