Post-Game Talk: Game 44: BRUINS 3 Toronto 2 - B's find a way to win

Missingchicklet and unified theory summarized my feelings on the stripes bang on. Was ready to throw something by the third.

Unfortunately I had to tune in to HNIC instead of Jack & Brick tonight.................Jim Hughson is truly awful, right up there with Rick Jeanneret and Paul Steigerwald.

Rogers is aware of the problem and the problem is the best Canadian play by play person decided to stay with TSN ( Chris Cuthbert )

Rogers has been talking to an American announcer currently working for ESPN to do hockey and baseball and it may happen but Rogers has to make him the #1 announcer.

His dream job was to call Bruins hockey but he never got the chance.

I haven't been able to watch many games in the past month or so but saw a lot that I liked tonight. Bergy was fantastic, as usual, and it was nice to see Marchand with the winner (twice). Spooner had some bad luck tonight but he has been putting up the points as of late, which is great to see.

The few negatives included Morrow, who I thought was a little unsure with the puck tonight, the refs, who were absolutely brutal, and the CBC crew. This is more of an ongoing thing than just a one-off from tonight but it seems like every time I watch a Bruins game on CBC they continually talk about how much of a pest Marchand is. I mean, it's getting very tiresome to listen to. If they want to mention it once or twice, fine, but it seems like they focus on it a little too much every friggin' time. I don't know, maybe it's not as bad as I make it out to be but it grinds my gears.

By saying that Connolly has played well, Claude sounds pretty much like Dave Lewis; seeing things that doesn't really exist... You know what happened to Dave, right Claude?

I think that's unfair. Like most I have real reservations about Connolly.

However, he had a good game last night. To say otherwise doesn't reflect reality IMO.

Every broadcast I listen/watch it`s mentioned about Marchand so that doesn`t really bother me, heck, I`ve heard Jack and Brick do the same and really, is it not true? They (CBC) say the same about Gallagher.

Morrow played the exact same way C Miller played Friday....young

Good energy from the team, thought Hayes and Connolly played well, refs suspect

Happy for the back to back wins, wish the B`s had of played with the same energy Friday in Buffalo they played with last night

My biggest concern with this team remains Z, shudder to think what happens if this team makes the playoffs, speed of the game is amped up as right now, he`s exposed on every bloody shift, such a worry

No Pasta/Quaider/Krejci/Kelly<<<<who I`d take 8 days a week over Kemp...Julien doing a pretty darn good job with what he`s been given

Ur so right and I cringed when there was 5-6 min left and Chara touched the puck but I wouldn't trade him he still has great value to this team with his defensive play and long stick if he gets paired with a puck moving Dman he will do fine. He is terrible with the puck on his stick but he is great on the penalty kill, when used properly he is a huge asset for us.
I realize it's not easy for Claude to not play him in critical situations but he has to limit and use this weapon correctly. When ever I see him on the ice in OT or on the PP I hold my breath because he is clearly slow and can't keep up I don't get why our coaching staff is having such a hard time noticing this.

No it's really not, I can't think of anyone who's worse.

Ah, maybe Chara, lol

Chara has done a lot for Boston since he signed here including raising the cup. At his age, we knew he was gonna slow down but still, he gives his all, still a major player but of course he's slowed down, what else do we expect?? He still does a lot more good for this team than harm.

People give up on Z too quickly. he isn't the player he was. but to say he hurts them, i have a problem believing this. they put him in situations that he should not be in. still one of the best shut downs in the game. appreciate what he brings to the table as far as penalty killing and should not play as much as he does.. but thats claude not z.

He has been getting exposed lately on the kind of plays that he ALWAYS got exposed on . If he gets caught pinching he ain't getting back . I am willing to live and die with Chara for this year .

I have to ask. Does any player in this league dive more than Kadri? He can't have much respect from the real men that play in the NHL. It's sickening to watch. Did it with the Knights in junior all the time.

Habs are impressed with his diving skills and will look into what it will take to get him in a Hab uniform :sarcasm:

Good post.

Yes, Z is shaky. But it should be noted he has the most goals, most points and best +/- of all our defensemen while playing the hardest minutes.

Good points oddat And bonvie. Some fans here are having a very difficult time seeing chara evolve to over ager . No he isn't the same player but chara is still a number one D on almost all NHL teams today.

He did have a good game. In fact Connolly has been very effective nearly every game he's played with 37/63, not productive and that's certainly disappointing, but effective. In fact, IMO 37 and 63 have played their best hockey with Connolly on that line which accounts for something.

I know people need something to rant about, but this is misguided.

Notice a distinct lack of criticism for Colin Miller and Joe Morrow around here, who have been the Bruins worst players, by a large margin over the last month or so.

Edit: that's a bit unfair to Morrow given his lack of GP. Still, if that was Kevan Miller having the games Colin has had, there'd be a HF sponsored lynch mob wandering the streets of Boston looking for the guy.

I totally agree, every single time they have to show him punching a Sedin. Why not show some of the great goals the kid has scored. Complete embarrassment and how can they still employ that clown Healy.

You're right. Meanwhile, Kevan Miller makes really good plays almost every game but never receives any credit. When I think about it, there's no reason Miller can't be another Boychuk (minus the big shot). It's not like Boychuk is a great skater - in fact, I think Kevan has Johnny beat in that department.
