Finally the board is usable again. Mine was stuck in dark mode and with all the poor contrast text, I couldn't read anything.

Now let's see the Oilers turn things up against these kings tonight. Don't let Byfield and McLovin run around tonight please.

Edit: Just noticed that it's a home game and start time is 30 minutes late. So nice that the Oilers have to accommodate every other hockey market but their own.

I'm surprised at all the concern and angst in this thread. LA always spanks us once during the season but ultimatly the Oilers prevail through the season series. Edmonton is 8-4-1 vs. LA even in the regular season over the last 3+ years on top of the 12-6 playoff record vs. them.

Could LA win again tonight, sure, but I'm not overly concerned. Should be a great game.

Especially when we had the last game in hand before taking our foot off the gas and throwing it away. The fact that they owned us in OT with the likes of third liners underscores it for me, they really wanted it, and we didn't care as much. Had we just played the last 20 mins of that game with a bit more effort and a bit better execution and nobody is talking this way.

I feel like the Kings brought an A+ effort and we were somewhere around B-, but it still took a comeback full of dumbass Oiler errors for them to do it.

Going 11-7 tonight with Josh Brown dressed for some reason. So he can play 3 mins, they don't have a RH faceoff taker and they don't have Jeff Skinner's offense.

Solid solid stuff.....
Brown is likely to add physicality against a physical team. Hopefully he doesn't cost us in terms of GA. I don't like 11-7 as it often entails overplaying McDavid and Draisaitl.

We got pretty badly beaten in the corners in our own end in LA (and generally recently), so I'm assuming Brown is the big guy that is supposed to help defend that.

It’s McDavid’s Bday but the Oilers always seem to be flat coming home from a long roadie so who knows how this one is going to play out. The Kings certainly play like they have something to prove every time they face us, we’re the better team when we show up but we won’t win bringing out our B game.

The one thing I do know though is that if we lose this mid regualr season game, the usual suspects will be absolutely melting down.

So the stuff with Jeff Skinner is rough, I get the worry about trust, but come on. And as for Brown, I think they're show casing him, but that's me being generous.

Really, really doubt that. Who would ever be interested in a 7-8 d-man signed to a three year contract that isn't league minimum. Especially when they can likely grab him on waivers next time he goes down if he stays up here much longer. I think he's at about 16 days now, so two more weeks and waivers are back for him to go down.

This is Knoblach playing with the roster a bit or maybe one of the dmen are slightly nicked up. Not bad enough to sit out, but possibly enough that they may need to be limited.

"The Kings are gonna be a problem this year, I don't think the Oilers can measure up this time!"

Last season they were 7-0-1 in the first game at home after a roadie of three or more games, outscoring the opposition 45-20. They also won the single playoff game that came after 3 in a row on the road (Round 2, Game 7/Round 3, Games 1-2)

Also in 22-23, they were 5-1-1 in the first game after a three game or more roadie, outscoring 32-22. That was a two year run of 12-1-2 and outscoring 87-42.

Not quite as strong this year, going just 1-2 in three games, but one of those games was vs. likely the hottest team in the NHL at the time (NJ), and the other against another team that was super hot at time and also a long time nemesis regardless of where the game was played (MIN).

I'm not worried about whether the team shows up or not tonight, but even if they do show up LAs coming off a loss as well and will be very motivated, so I doubt whoever wins tonight will be because the other doesn't show up.

Doesn't mean they should be taken lightly, but yeah, I'm not sure where all the fear comes from. LAs a good team that starts on time every year, but the Oilers have really learned how to counterpunch LA as the number of games have elevated against them.

LA sure didn't look good against Calgary. Kings always seem to lose to the Flames.

Just checked. Over last Calendar year Kings lost to Flames 4/5 games.. LA only managing a combined 6 goals in the 4 games they lost.
