2024-25 EPL Season

If any team has breached PSR between 2021-2024, it will be announced tomorrow.
According to The Mirror, 6 clubs are at risk.

United don't appear to have too much to be worried about having already published their accounts for 2023/24. Though the club's recent cost-cutting and that no player is off limits for a transfer would seem to suggest there is not a great deal of wiggle room for the Red Devils.

Not sure I get this deal from Arsenal. Zubi is a great player and is an outright starter for them. But with Merino and rice I don’t see why you’d need to spend another 50M(?) on him. The attack needs to refreshed they could use an upgrade on LW and are desperate need of a 9

It’ll probably just be him being a like for like replacement for Thomas Partey. (Obvious on/off field upgrade). With the way Arsenal spends it won’t prohibit them doing any of the other stuff they need, but they aren’t going to compromise on their risk adverse defensive structure either.

Pretty sure Odegaard was at Sociedad with Zubimendi and Merino. Really funny is who (one of the) striker on that team was

Some teams were clearly desperate to be compliant last summer, but it seems like they managed to help each other out. Just look at how Newcastle supposedly bought Nottingham's 30 y/o backup goalkeeper for £20M last summer just to not use him.

The Anderson for 15 million and a guy who somehow managed to be worse than Turner deal is all about the way PSR works where sales are immediate value and transfers in are amortized.

Newcastle booked 35 million (also an inflated value at the time even though he looks well worth that now) in profit for Elliot Anderson because he was an academy boy. They needed to clear 60. Then the Vlach signing gets amortized so they’re still fine under PSR.

League opened themselves up to exactly this kind of deal with the way the rules are written. These are the same rules that allow you to sell hotels and women’s teams to yourself to get around them so it really shouldn’t be surprising. Give teams the ability to do shady business that follows the letter of the law but largely violates the spirit and this is what you’ll get.

The funny thing about the rules here is that enough teams broke the rules to band together and block the super majority needed to change the rules. So obviously the loopholes stay open because no one wanted to rat on themselves. Sport imitating real life.

Why am I getting at’ed for this?

Also it’s the LFC 18/19 team that finished in second place
