The key problems are that we have a non-NHL-quality goaltender, an entire defensive corps of seventh defensemen, and are playing at least one line of 14th forwards every night and with the rest of the lineup at least one line higher than they belong.
Guys like Ferraro, Ceci, Wennberg, and Kunin should be bottom pair/line guys, playing 16 or 10 minutes a night. Guys like Rutta, Thrun, Goodrow, Grundstrom, Dellandrea, and Sturm should be playing no more than 30 games a season, when someone else is hurt. Most of these players will not have a guaranteed NHL contract when they leave the Sharks - they're just plain not good.
The fact that we've even had a chance to win any of these last bunch of games is the surprising thing, not that we're as bad as we are.
