40 minutes left and an internal talk in the room for a mature group. Game is still winnable.

sports media credentials nowadays are “can you write at a grade 5 level” and “how good are you at saying a bunch of nothing and / or stirring up fans”

Clueless, so I could see them thinking the D always sucks even though it’s statistically not true and that Skinner is the best goalie in the league or whatever like some here think
Every loss is not on the tender as most think here. Sad, Edmonton fans are supposed to be intelligent

Skinner hasn’t been great either. No real need to add to the discussion on that topic.Feel free to disagree with what I said.

lol Disagree with an assertion that a guy who just had a 12 game point streak has the offensive skills lately "around Josh Browns"?

Wow, that would be hard to do.

When we gave him a 3 year deal I was like WTF? Then seeing him in preseason wow horrible. Look where we are now!
Brown had 6 shifts, and 1 shot block and 2 hits and minus -1. He isn't the one costing us the game. The whole team doesn't have it. I understand not liking players, but blowing things out of proportion to make a point that isn't true is just weird.

I like the way Debrusk too is calling all these shots bar in. More absolute fiction to maintain something about Stew who is down on everything, making himself small, and massive room to slam pucks home. He's blocking as little of the net as would be humanly possible considering his massive size. Its really incredible how much of the cage he gives up and also his V butterfly. jebus christ can't even stretch his pads out.

they've run pre recorded vingettes at the intermission for 2 years now. Im just glad this wasn't another kid with cancer type tape, I can only handle so many of them.
It would have been nice to see them get out in the community to see where the funds raised in Joey's name have been used.

We've been playing well since early November so the sky isn't falling, but man when this team is not on their game they are slooooooow. Making the Penguins look fast is a skill.

I've harped on it a few times here, but it's the defence and their inability to turn the puck up ice quickly. Pittsbugh's forecheck has been on point this game, but a big strength of this team has been Nurse, Kulak, Emberson, and Stecher's ability to retrieve pucks and get them quickly out of harm's way.

There's a reason why that 4th goal hasn't happened vs. the bottom 4 this season, and it's because forechecks can win races vs. Brown. Tossing Brown on the ice also telegraphs which defenceman will be handling the puck and puts a massive bulleye on their back.

Smartest man in the room moment thinking Josh brown is capable of playing even a second of NHL hockey. WTF are they thinking
Lol. This was way bigger than a 'Josh Brown' problem. It was a complete team fail with zero forward support and all of the d getting beat net front and in coverage. No stops behind them but the Penguins completely pushed the Oilers shit back with hard, aggressive forecheck and target practise with repeating free open look night.

He’s passing up prime scoring chances and making poor offensive decisions. I’m sure I didn’t need to point out the obvious hyperbole but he’s handicapping himself with forced passes into low scoring areas.

Not much Skinner could do on the 4 goals, the team's not even bothering to cover the net front or slot... Still you need a save or two on a shot he shouldn't have.

One good thing of this period: it shines a massive spotlight what they don't need on the backend: A big, but slow player. Brown is reminding me of watching Ceci and Vinny last year; Needless to say, I don't miss it.
His legs were too busy/wtf was he doing on goal 1. But yeh the coverage failed him on those other goals but you’d want 1 or 2 saves on those 3 goals. Obviously not Stu’s sharpest night. And this team will know they need to be better in front of him too.

Not blaming him for this game at all. Just stating he shouldn't be up here.

Stu is never the problem right? he's our MVP, most consistent and best player.
Common it's only been 41/42 games. He's still getting in the groove. Sub 900 overall goaltending is ok with this org. It's why we cannot win a division.

Don't care if you sieve it up then go hot.

He isn't, people are just sick of the constant shit a lot of posters talk about the guy.
There just isn't any nuance. It has killed conversation on the guy.

It's basically "he is the worst goalie ever" (GMofOilers) or this "blame everybody but him"

These two schools of conversation make everyone's posts more extreme and make things more black and white.

Skinner isnt playing bad though....he's an average goalie playing average on most nights lol

you think the Oilers played good that period but Skinner let them down?
You'd think a goalie wouldn't fold like a cheap tent giving up 4 goals in a period. Like I said earlier with premium goalies at least they'd make some quality stops, keep a team in it in a period where there not on. Doesn't happen often here. If this is half of the teams in the league they exit a period like this down 1 goal because their goalie is doing some stoning.

Too much to ask.
