So the Bell Centre was open for the game last night. Apparently they sounded the goal horn when Galchenyuk "scored" and everyone went nuts. Guess quite a few Complaniens fans went from euphoria to distraught in a matter of a few minutes. :)

That's just awesome haha. A couple of announcers said that on replay it looked like Hank got a piece of it. When I looked slow-mo I had the same impression. Puck looks like its trajectory changed slightly just before hitting the pipe. If so, stellar save.

Dude NBC was ripping them apart for all their diving and hijinks.

Remember when Girardi was clearly hooked on that one play?

I think it was Pierre who said that the refs aren't going to catch every little transgression, and Eddie said something that quickly quieted Pierre: "hard to miss that call when the puck was right there."

It's not as uncommon as it used to be.

We were at City Chevrolet buying a new SUV on Saturday and I had a Ranger t-shirt on and someone from Rye, NY stopped and chatted a bit about the series.

A few years ago, we were in a Dick's Sporting Goods buying junior street hockey sticks for my then 3 year old daughter. Guy and his son are behind us. Guy asks us if we're hockey fans. A few words later, find out it's Mike Hartman from the 1994 team.

My peer/manager at Wells is a Caps fan, and there are a few on the other side of the floor who are Sabres and Caps fans, and they are all pulling for the Rangers.

Not too surprising. Charlotte was the Rangers' ECHL affiliate from 1996-2010 and they always drew pretty well for that level (better than the Wolfpack draw). Dan Girardi is the only current Ranger who played there, though. Hartman retired to the Charlotte area and played sporadically for the Checkers as an emergency signing for more than a decade after retiring from the NHL.

I love that so many leaguewide fans think that we're on a "miracle run"

As if we aren't a higher seed than any other team in the playoffs

As if this team's record since it's horrible start wasn't one of the best in the league

As if we don't have a top 3 goaltender

As if we don't have a top 5 blueline

And as if we don't have one of the deepest most versatile sets of attacking forwards out there.

Really mystifying. It's like they don't know that we've made the playoffs more since the lockout in 04-05 than any other team in the East.

It's almost as if a lot of people on HF are very misinformed when it comes to hockey...

Yeah okay man.

We're gonna get swept!!!!! #weztizbezt

On some of the replay angles you can see that it hits the shaft of his stick.

On that note, I was somewhat disappointed that Subban got credit for that goal because one of the NBC angles clearly showed that it got deflected.

It looked like it went off Gallagher in the deep slot, Hank also said it changed direction

I'm so over Emrick with his floating a pass but cancelled off and sent around the roulette wheel where its played along by

I can't do Emrick or NBC at all anymore... I ended up watching the CBC feed in Russian. Aside from player names I didn't understand anything they said except "original six." It was so pleasant, so much better than hearing Emrick screech and say careened 71,000 times.

I would quarrel with the words "miracle run".

The Rangers aren't a terrible team. As you say after the poor start that had a rather good record. The goalie is superb. The D is outstanding. The forwards probably block more shots than most teams.

With that said, I believe the Rangers played team at their level (Philly), a team that struggled against Columbus, and team that lost it's starting goalie. Kudos to the Rangers for putting themselves in a position to get into the finals. Good Luck never hurts.

Assuming no further injuries (and assuming the rangers do get into the cup finals) to the oppositions starting goalies/est players are the Rangers a deep underdog to win the cup? I think so. I believe the PP is still weak, the offense is spotty, and the team takes too many penalties. Will the total team effort/bonding lead to a cup? Anything is possible. As I said this isn't an impotent team. They are simply decided underdogs. The good news... they have been decided underdogs since the start since the start of series 1. If there is a next series We'll see if the pundits truly underestimate this team or we simply watched a good team encounter some luck?

The Rangers were decidedly better than every team they've played in the playoffs so far, you're right, and they'll be weaker than whoever comes out of the West. However, if they can finish off MTL and then lose in the SCF, it's not a matter of watching a good team encounter some luck: it's a good team losing to another good team.

So, they'd be an underdog, but so would any team in the East against Chicago or LA.

A couple things to remember; the Rangers have decent head-to-head records against Chicago and LA this year. It's a small sample size, but so is a playoff series.

Specialty teams are a concern, but look at the Rangers efficacy in 5 on 5 play.

Far and away better than anyone else in the playoffs so far. They've shut down the top player on each team they have faced so far.

If they go to the finals they probably only have about a 30-35% chance of winning. But considering this franchise's history that's hard to not get excited about and it's far from the "easy win" a lot of main board fans will chant.

Seems like impartial fans love to make bombastic declarations like "series over" after 1 game or "The winner of this series [involving the Rangers] will be swept by whoever they play next"- We've heard it every... single... round.

What a TEAM!

I went into this playoff season hoping and believing but also knowing this is the NY Rangers and that unfortunately usually leaves us playing Golf by this time of year.
What a TEAM, we have!
Everyone is contributing the guys like Boyler, Klein(he's the one who blocked that late shot by Subban not Hank), Stralman, ZUCC( the stat sheet does not do him justice), Brassard. I could go on and on!
AND
even though I am slightly prejudiced, The storylines for this team are just so likeable no make that Lovable.
Let's go Rangers
(as Marty says)
this is your time!:yo:

I have felt this way all season long. I think AV deserves a ton of credit and believe he is the right coach to lead this team for a long run as a perennial Eastern Conference contender!

Was there in 226 last night. Everyone stood up in front of us as soon as Marty got the puck. You could tell something magical was going to happen. There was a level of energy and noise that I'd never felt at the Garden before and I was there in 94 (not for game 7). But something about this is just absolutely magical. I can't quite put a finger on it, but there's something in the air with this team.

Gross says Stepan is on the flight for game 5 in Montreal.

They would probably do well to shelter his minutes if they do play him. No PK duty, for one.

Probably just for a consult with diagnostic team Dr. Gallagher and Dr. Briere. TBH, I wouldn't be surprised if Dr. Gallagher is liable for medical malpractice after his initial misdiagnosis.

I may be reading too much into this, but look at the celebration videos. Everyone on the team just jumps over the boards and sprints towards Marty. Except Nash. He steps over, barely glides towards his team mates and joins them a full ten seconds later.

As I said I could be a bit dramatic with my interpretion here, but could it be he's not fitting in all that well with the group?

Idk in the CBC footage they show him and Kreider hugging on the bench and Kreider pops over the boards, Nash kind of stumbles as he hops over. Then when he gets to the pile he jumps on the back. Just slower there than everyone else.

Probably more than anything he's in shock by what's going on. He's never been involved in games like this or this far in the playoffs in his career. Probably just taking it all in and thinking to himself "holy crap!"

Yeah, he just gets a piece of it with the knob of his stick. Changes the trajectory ever so slightly.

There is an extension you can put on Firefox called Hola, let's you connect to a VPN. Pick Canada and you can stream the game off cbc.ca. I don't know how anyone can go NBC's coverage. It's nauseating.

Loved Martys postgame interview with Pierre. When asked what the mindset is going into game 5, there was no "well we need to just play our game and focus on what we can control and blah blah blah". All he says is "We have to close it. We have to close it." with that obscenely intense look of his. So great

Which is fine. The team has enough forwards that can kill penalties. Boyle, Moore, Hagelin, Nash, St. Louis, Zuccarello. That's 6, which is enough without Stepan.

Stepan's right handed shot was badly missed on the PP. Give him around 15 minutes tomorrow of ES and PP time.

Seriously, the guy looks like he's on a mission. I thought the same thing watching that, he is all business and wants this series ended. Huge acquisition.

I was shocked how well the PK held up last night without Steps.

Brian Boyle is a ******* master.
