The Darkest Timeline
Everybody is entitled to their own opinion... but I'd just like to point out that this is the first time in nearly 20 years we've gotten this far.

Yeah, this series has not gone well to date and game #3 was a gut punch, but I'd encourage everybody to try and enjoy this (and, while some may disagree, pull for the team to win). Might be the only chance to enjoy the second round for another 20 years.

Knowing this team, they could easily get swept or somehow win 12 in a row. Let's worry about where to go next after this season is fully over.

I can't believe I f***ing want these a-holes to comeback and win it in 7

I hate Dubas and Keefe so much. its not even funny for how clueless these 2 jackasses are.

but then I saw this on Overdrive and I was like ... WHAT IF just WHAT IF IT HAPPENS?

This BeLeaf virus in me has gotta get healed sometime right? LOL

I don't see Keefer making major line changes .. if it happens it is because our tender throws a shutout .. anything is possible but i think that is what it will take

I don’t know if they win or lose but at this point I’m looking for them to be the final girl in a Friday the 13th movie.
Are you going to stand there and scream and cry while you get stabbed or are you going to pick up a shovel, axe, whatever and whack him with it to survive. Win or lose I’m looking for that.
Wouldn't it be so nice to see this team go down swinging, leaving it all on the ice?! We will see tomorrow night!

It would be super leafy for Woll to shut the door we win 3 in a row and Keefe goes back to Sammy and we lose game 7.

It has always been on the core. Not one of them has been able to exert their will and dominate and win a game 7 when it counted (yes JT scored the OT winner but he slept for 60 minutes that game).
I agree, your top players have to be your top players. But you also need that depth scoring, even moreso in the playoffs, but the Leafs have rarely had that until now.

OK, I have had 48hrs to cool down. Still apathetic to what happens in this playoffs, but I do have a renewed sense of optimism for our future. However that unfolds.

The way I see it is pretty simple. We either pull off the miraculous, and have one of the most epic comebacks in NHL history. Which would be unreal. Or we enter the offseason with a clear direction to change the fabric of this roster.

Both outcomes have their upsides IMO. On one hand, I'd love nothing more than for this current group to shove it down everyone's throats, including mine, and pull off the impossible. Really cement themselves as the right men for the job. But on the other hand, we have also seen this song and dance for far too long. Let down after let down. With seemingly zero real progress year over year. Of course these guys have individually improved, and I have no question on their work ethics. I think it just might be the end of the road for this collection of players. After 7 seasons, there needs to be more post season success than this. There needs to be more big game success than what we have shown. It is the consistent failure to launch in those big moments that will ultimately be this core group's undoing.

That all said, I am going to go into these final game(s) with the same level of support I have always shown. I hope they can get it done. More for themselves at this point TBH, but I am OK with whatever comes should they come up short

The only minor inconsequential difference between that Kings team and this Leafs is group is the Kings had absolute gamers in Kopitar, Doughty, Brown, Quick and Williams leading the charge. Minus Rielly, there is absolutely nobody on the Leafs who stacks up to the intensity that those players had.

This is not a sign of optimisim. This is a sign of resignation
You have resigned to the fact that this is not the core, that this is not the coach and that this is not our time

Understandable

Exercising more demons tonight. Start of a 3-0 comeback . I believe because some guy promised in preseason. Who’s in net? What a story if Woll took them into the next round. Or even Murray with a redemption run. It ain’t over until it’s over. LETZ GO .

One thing for sure, I was very happy that Sam Bannett couldn't do anything in that game
Leafs were all over him, let him know, that when you take out a up and coming rookie, a teammate that you don't just walk into the sun

That will reap what you sow. We showed him. That's what you get Bennett

A sweep would be the humane thing.

Last time we did this, our captain subsequently yoloed into ww2. If we do this now, therefore, the only solution is to send Mitch to war.

Name one NHL player Mitch could actually fight and live to tell the tale.
We need a better gameplan Keefe :D

edit: Even less confident in Mitch vs any soldier on this planet. Women soldiers included.

Maybe so, but they should have had better results in previous years so it evens out.
They sure should have, if they were built right, which is the same problem they’re having this year.

Every year they run into the same problems.

Top players just can’t do it
Goaltending has been subpar

One thing that I haven't seen pointed out anywhere: this Leafs' team is older than this Panthers' team. While Florida's top 3 forwards are contemporaries of the Leafs' Matthews/Nylander/Marner, the balance of Florida's forwards are considerably younger as is their defense. We have reached that point where younger teams are taking care of us in the playoffs.
