40 million in four forwards sounds bad, but it’s negated by Dubas’ ability to insulate the roster with players that can play well all throughout the line-up.

I’m not making an excuse, it doesn’t help that they have that much tied up into four players, and sure- you wish that wasn’t a fact, however given the circumstances the team is built well throughout the roster.

I’m sort of hoping MLSE let’s Dubas walk so Ottawa can maybe pick him up.
Most Leaf fans are hoping for the same.

Leafiest thing would to win the next 8 games then get swept in the Finals and some here would be happy with advanced stats and actually getting to the Finals and state would you rather get swept in the Finals than first round exits…..kind of like what they are saying now, lol.

I think its feasible that we win the next two and the Panthers finish us off in Florida for Game 6. I say this simply, because Florida plays with pride, and we play with something approaching selective interest.

And they could certainly sweep us.

Florida isn't losing this series. They're constructed differently. They took advantage of Boston in a way we didn't take advantage of any team in the past seven playoffs seasons. We got lucky with Tampa. I wouldn't say we took advantage of them. It didn't feel or look like what Florida's done to Boston and to us in three straight games.

I do however think we have the makings of a trade with Anaheim for their 2nd overall pick.

If the core is the problem, Dubas leaving won’t fix the problem.
If Dubas is guilty, it’s going over and over with the same core and not even considering a change like other teams have shown.
Were you even looking, listening, or you just said this is it. Which does us a disservice.

Weird that this is almost an even poll. What has this team shown you that makes you think they can accomplish a comeback? If you can stomach it, go back and look at Reinhart's OT goal. 4 guys could have stopped him. All they did was wave sticks at him and let him dance around the net for the wraparound. If they can't bring their A game to that situation, what exactly do you see changing for the next 3? Gimme a break. This is over. Sorry.

The thing about Dubas is, that I think he's grown into a really good GM. The mistakes he made were as a rookie GM and they've had lasting effects. Overall if you look at what he's done the past 2-3 years they're mostly good moves.

I don't know what it will take but I don't know if they have it. AM and MM need to have big D energy and actually produce, not just lament with chances. And not just the next game, but every game. Kampf was playing like the #1 center last couple games... it's sad.

I'd also start Woll for a bit of a momentum shift. What is there to lose? He won't make the Samsonov acrobatic saves but he'll probably give you safe goaltending.

I would assume his replacement would make further changes.

I don’t think it is. 2 goals per game since game 4 of the previous round. 40M tied up in 4 forwards who can’t score. That’s not a well built team.
Or the fact that the 40mil 4 forwards are not carrying their weight. How many goals had they scored in the past three games Vs the number of goals they scored between Game 4-6?

I guess just realizing that you can't know that for sure before the games are played. That's what we "see". I assume you aren't betting your life on that second last sentence, though absolute. Or even your house? Are you betting your retirement savings? Maybe you're just betting money you can live without if anything at all. I guess maybe you aren't as absolutely positive as your post on a message board would suggest.

The fact is the Leafs don't have very many good forwards, especially with Knies out. Kerfoot is unironically one of their best options for the top 6, and I don't mean that as an endorsement

He wasn't having the best season but Robertson being injured and out also hurts, as does Amirov's cancer diagnosis, not that hockey is the main thing to care about for Rodion as he goes through it. The Leafs had truly rotten luck when it comes to recently highly drafted forwards. By all rights all three should've been knocking on the door by now if not outright on the roster, but fate has screwed us.
