What a win last night. It was nice seeing us run NJ out of their own building. Hopefully we can close it out in game 5 and not let them back in it like we let NY back in it when we lost game 5 in Raleigh. That was Sorokin though and mental mistakes. Let's not make mental mistakes Thursday please. We can't give NJ any life. We have them by the jugular. Time to finish them.

With all our wins being blow outs it just proves that NJ is no match for us when we're on our game. They may be a fast team but we're a fast team too and we're the #1 rush defensive team in the league and the best defensive team remaining in the playoffs. People may say Dallas and other teams but now that Boston is out (whom had the best defense in the league) we are now the best left because we were 2nd in the league.

NJ fans and pundits are quickly realizing we're not the Rangers.

Also, it appears that at least for this playoff season to this point our road woes have been resolved. We're 3-2 on the road thus far these playoffs. That's a far cry from going 0-5 this time last year.

Us winning on the road this season in the playoffs is very refreshing to see, which makes last night's blow out on the road in Jersey even more refreshing. It proves that this team CAN win on the road.

Let's close this series out on Thursday.

Quote from Marty
This was 2 years ago after signing his Two Year contract:

"I came here three years ago and felt like I was part of the culture change a little bit. I can put a little feather in my cap for that. I feel like there's a group of us who have been here for three years and been the driving force of trying to turn this thing around. I feel like we have," he said. "Willy always used the term 'relevant,' and I think we're there. I want to see it through. I think we're right there. We're so close. If I were to go somewhere else, it'd be tough to see if they were to win here because I feel like I was a big part of it."

I wonder how those posters on the main board who were shocked people were claiming we would be heavy favorites if healthy are feeling right now.

Something, something, "elite" goaltending, something, something, we're so "fast"...

I don't think those other posters watch the Canes much if at all. They don't know anything about our team. They all thought NJ would skate circles around us with their speed and 'light up' our goaltenders. It's like we never stood a chance.

I've seen a lot of them say it's because we struggled vs the Islanders in the first round. Well, Islanders play a style of hockey we don't want to play...and we still beat them and they have Sorokin who played great vs us that series. Stastny won that series for us.

Also, the Islanders are an experienced playoff team. Let's not forget we eliminated a team that went to the ECF 2 years ago before losing to TB.

Devils are playing our style and even though it's not over we're dominating them.

So yes, goaltenders are being lit up this series. But, it's NJ's goaltenders. Both of them.

Can't believe the Rangers with Shesterkin struggled with the Devils goalies. Schmid gave the Rangers nightmares and we've lit both him and Vanacek up to this point.

Need one more win. Not over yet.

And the Devils inexperience in the playoffs is showing thus far.

Slavin has gone beastmode in this series. He absolutely dominated play in the 2 games in Raleigh and it was more of the same last night.

If I remember correctly, he's been nursing injuries the last few years entering the playoffs, and maybe that was the big difference between what we saw then vs where this team is now. He's just so damn good, he shuts down everything within 5 feet of him, it's incredible.
Doesn't hurt he's playing with bona fide #1 dman Brent Burns now instead of Hamilton or TDA, who were very good, but not at Burns' level.

Nothing better than watching the other team try to forecheck Burns, and he just tosses them on the ice like they're toddlers. I don't even know how you approach that pair as an opposing team.

10.8 million total for Burns + Slavin.
Dougie makes 9 million a year by himself.

I don't think this series has told us anything about Dougie that we didn't already know.

We had full awareness of his strengths and weaknesses. And one of his weaknesses is that he's not going to enjoy playing against the aggressiveness of this system. He thrives on time and space and we thrive on taking that away. I'm not a Dougie hater; in a way this is my defense of him. It's just not a good matchup for him.

I was finally able to pinpoint my impatience with the broadcast coverage tonight…perhaps y’all have already.

When the Hurricanes are getting their asses handed to them, all the talk revolves around how the other team is taking it to the Hurricanes. They talk about “what a great story it is that so-and-so is playing so well!” for the other team. They talk about how the other team is imposing their will on the Hurricanes. All talk is centric to the other team.

When the Hurricanes are dominating, all talk surrounds the fact that the other team is struggling. But even more so, it’s about what the other team needs to do in order to fix their problem. They discuss the players who are struggling for the other team. All talk is centric to the other team.

I know, I’m preaching to the choir.

Ferraro is the only one of em' who has been any good.

I couldn't believe some of the cockiness and cluelessness by Devils fans in response to my post in the mainboard thread that we'd be considerable favorites if fully healthy. We're missing 3 top 6 players including 2 of our 3 best goal scorers and we're still completely destroying them. So great to see.
