really good game between two competitive teams. i wish more people watched the oilers broadcast. they were effusive with praise about carolina and were suggesting these might be two teams that aren't done and how both teams were kind of using this game as an early season measuring stick. entertaining game between two powerhouse teams but we can't go into track meet mode against the oilers. they just have the horses for it. hard to be disappointed by the outcome here. lot of heart to keep clawing back into this one. sometimes you lose on the road to really good teams. onwards.

Oilers broadcast called out Koko on the en. Talking about how he had full possession and forced it to the middle when he had time on the clock, and about how Slavin gave him a look about it. Were very complimentary of us throughout the game overall. They kept calling us both cup contenders.

We showed the ability to come back in a tough game which was good, but we gave them too many chances to bury us. Freddie was only really bad to me on the one he got stuck behind the net, but that goal was a killer.

One day Aho will try something different on the breakaway. One day.
it worked a lot when he first started using it because it was such a change of pace, but it has entirely replaced his wrist shot on breakaways even when he doesn't have the lateral movement to open the goalie up. the book is all the way out on that move. would love to see him go backhand more.

Svech and Aho looked great, we’re still frustratingly undisciplined at times, and a few defenses lapses that Freddie unfortunately wasn’t able to help with tonight.

Gonna be alright, but this was a game we easily would have won if we just cleaned a few things up.

At full speed, that is a very hard save
burns caught up enough to take away the forehand and the backhand was the only play kane had to make. he even went to that post and it just leaked through him. it's hard to ever get too much on a goalie's ass for a partial breakaway, but that one was leaky. it's okay. he's usually the difference but was a step off this game. nothing easy against the oilers.

I watched the oilers feed the entire game and actually enjoyed it. Usually I hate having to watch our opponents broadcast.

Lol no. They showed the replay....it WAS a brutal play that ended the game.

Why would the Oiler crew give a flying fornication about the comings and goings in Montreal? Does the LA Kings media care about the off seasons moves of the Islanders....from two off seasons ago?

Bad play in the corner but he wasn’t bad outside of that

Unfortunately, that play may have cost us the game. The Canes had plenty of momentum to tie it up at that point with how they were playing. That being said, shit happens, and Freddie doesn't make plays like that often so you take the loss, and move on.

Hard fought game fellas. Let’s do it again in a couple of weeks.
How about 7 months?

Honestly, a loss like this doesn't worry me even a little bit. Both teams were fantastic tonight, and it just so happened that the Oilers had one goal more firepower for this game. Tip your caps and move to the next one. Sometimes, really good teams lose games to other really good teams.
I agree the loss doesn’t worry me. But both teams were not fantastic by any means. They were less bad than us but we were terrible. Most of their goals were Freddie or our D sucking, not the Oilers doing anything all that special. It’s one game in the middle of a long west coast road trip in the first couple weeks of the season, no big deal at all. But don’t try to say we played “fantastic.”

Even Tripp called him out for that... It was indeed bad.
