For all the Hayton haters on here sure he took a stupid penalty early in this game but let’s remember he is actually playing in his 13th or 14th game as everyone else has played over 30 he will be a force in a couple more games and o ya I forgot I think he did get 2 nice goals though

The physicality was the difference. Canada had an ugly PP and the entire next line came out hitting. 4 hits in a row with one of them being Bahl on Brink. That was when the momentum turned IMO.

Took Canada a while to score, but it was good to see them use physicality to get settled in.

Two very good teams that should meet again.

Incorrect. Puck over the glass into the stands is a penalty, if it ends up on the bench that's fine.
You don't know what u are talking about. That exact same clear happened to Boston against Columbus in
the PO. Ut was called a penalty. If the puck clears the
glass before the bench IT DOESN' MATTER WHERE IT LANDS.

canada looking great 5 on 5

I thought Canada was a lot better 5 on 5 than the USA this game, but Canadian fans should not use this game to say their team is great 5 on 5. This US team has been abysmal 5 on 5 the last two games. If we don't score on the PP or Knight doesn't stand on his head, we can't compete with the big teams, unless the coach starts changing the lines.

It didn't clear the glass though? It went directly over the players bench on it's way over the glass behind when the coach caught it.

Miller is so unimpressive. His puck skills don't stand out, IQ isn't really there. He's just kinda big and a good athlete.

Exactly. People say he has great tools, but I don't even see tools. Being big, hitting hard, being a great skater and having a good wrist shot from the back-end is not all the tools. He doesn't defend well, his puck skills are average, as is his puck-moving. He has a low hockey IQ, as well.

I say that as a fan of the team that drafted him. I've seen him play plenty before we drafted him and after we drafted him. Never rated his game. I hope he comes good for us and I'm wrong, but I don't think I am.

Lafreniere clearly the best player out there, and it's not particularly close.

I wouldn't discount that the best American players were marginalized by their coach. Lafreniere is the best Canadian player, but if our top players were allowed to be our top players, I don't think Lafreniere would be clearly the best player out there AINEC.

Just throwing this out there but maybe , those best players don't know how to defend and they would get eaten up... You can say they'd have the puck and dominate but .. probably not from where I sit anyway. I think there is a reason we are seeing the lines the way they are. Do those guys Zegras, Turcotte, Caufield, Kaliyev have offensive talent no question. Maybe there has been some evaluation by those responsible for putting together a lineup on their play outside the offensive zone. ..

Turcotte is regarded as a very good defensive player.

The others, you might be right, but thats the team we have this year. Last year Hughes as an underager played center, and he weak undersized, not good defensively, bad on face-offs, weak. It didn't seem to matter then. Why does it now?

And yet I've seen several, including today where it was called no penalty. The rule (63) explicitly says if it goes in the bench it is not a penalty. Seems like you are the one who doesnt know what they are talking about

Lafreniere isnt going to oilers, What are people smoking. Oilers are in a playoff spot.

He is going to red wings (too bad for him)

I guess someone doesn't know what they are talking about.

With Canada leading the United States by a goal late in their World Juniors opener, the puck went flying over the glass in an errant play by Ty Dellandrea. It was nearly a penalty against Canada, and it would’ve been a potentially pivotal one at that.
But assistant coach André Tourigny caught the puck as it was flying over the glass, which, according to the letter of the law, means Canada avoided going on the PK. They went on to win 6-4 minutes later.

That was a classic style WJC game. Fiery play, disorganized play leading to chances, some boneheaded penalties, back and forth action. Good stuff. I liked Canada's five on five play after the first ten minutes and I'm looking forward to seeing how things develop. Wouldn't be surprised to face off against USA again. USA's size seemed to be an issue, but the biggest edge in the game was probably that Canada's coach doesn't seem to be just learning the game while the American coach does seem to be.

As a Detroit fan I also very much enjoyed Lafreniere's all around play today.
